The Rockets and Bulls have had conversations centered around an exchange of Courtney Lee for Omer Asik, according to a source.

Houston has been looking for an upgrade at center, while Chicago hopes to pair Derrick Rose with a better shooting guard.

The Rockets have also expressed interest in Kyrylo Fesenko of Utah.

Hell No.

I'm sorry but this isn't because of a decent game Omer had today.. But the simple fact that Omer is a 7 footer and still showing signs of improvement and he could be very valuable down the line.. Lee isn't worth that, especially someone who could be off the team in a year and a half. Omer can develop into a very formidable and effective backup Center for this team for the next 4 years..

They can have James Johnson though..

If things are otherwise fairly even, always take the bigger guy. Lee's a decent player and a very nice fit, but he's also a bit average. Asik meanwhile fits the hardest profile to find in basketball, and is making noticable strides. We'd probably get more out of Lee this year, particularly with Noah soon to return, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

I'm not a huge Courtney Lee fan, he is too inconsistent and one-dimensional at times. That said, I feel the defensive potential of Omer is very unlikely to materialize to a satisfactory extend and am fine with the idea of trading him for someone that can help with our SG problem.

I don't do it, you lose a very good defensive/young 7 footer and potentially piss off Brewer/Bogans/Korver (Lee will be getting 25 mins a game min most likely). On top of this, Lee is not that good (although a clear upgrade over Bogans). It could go either way, but I'd have to say no.

No, but a clear sign that Bogans' starting job's in peril

If this trade were to happen, it'd be one of those we regret not even a year later. Don't do it.

I don't see it happening.

Asik shows too much potential... not to mention it seems like the Bulls organization has invested a lot of time/energy helping him rehab from the injuries and developing his NBA game.

1st pick + JJ would be fair imo.

I like Lee but hell no.

We will be as weak if not weaker up front than the Magic.

Say no to this trade.

Bogans, JJ and perhaps Brewer should be the only ones on the table so far

+1

I also wouldn't do that trade, now! Not Asik for Lee.

Lets not pretend that Bogans starts out of choice.

He starts because of lack of choice.

I dont think an Asik for Lee swap sounds right. That has the feel of a very lopsided deal to me...there must be other parts to it that the Bulls must be receiving.

If Asik is traded, I think it will be very tough to get past Orlando and Boston's frontcourts.
For love, not money.

Thanks, but no thanks.

As I wrote in the PG thread..in 2 yrs when K.Thomas is in a rocking chair, Omer is going to be a very nice backup C, and I like Lee but I think guys like him will be easier to find than Omer once he's got a couple of years NBA experience under his belt..oh and 4-6 at the line was beautiful

And hell no to Brewer being traded for Lee either....or JJ

What about this 3-way:

Bulls Trade: James Johnson, 2011 1st, 2nd
Receive: Courtney Lee, Francisco Elson

Noah/Asik/KT/Elson
Boozer/Taj
Deng/Korver
C.Lee/Brewer
D.Rose/Watson (faark)

The Bulls get Lee while getting an insurance big on a small insignificant contract.

Jazz Trade: Fez, Elson
Receive: James Johnson, 2nd, small TE = savings doubled due to tax.

Rockets Trade: C. Lee
Receive: Fez, Bulls 2011 1st

The majority here on the board have the same thoughts(me too). Hopefully Asik is it worth and he'll not a be a disappointment.

Why does it seem like every GM in the NBA wants to rape us over in trades? I see to many trades that make sense for me to even think about this trade.

Just trade a first to Houston (not Bobcats) and call it a day. Or Taj.
NBA Playoffs.... I can never wait!

Why's it OK to trade Taj for Lee, but not Asik? Isn't Omer's BCS kind of Tajjy?

This.

I think people in this thread are just crazy!
This deal is fair for Bulls, and counter trade like JJ + pick just make me laugh.
Rockets are looking for center right now so, they have absolutely nothing to do with JJ.

I mean for now, Lee will have way more impact in Bulls roster than Omer will do when Joakim will come back and we're just 2 weeks from that.

Never trade a big for a small in basketballspeak. The Bulls traded 3 second round picks to that annoying, get something for nothing Portland Trailblazers then waited 2 years for Asik to play for them.
Asik is a legit backup who has an upside. Courtney Lee is a meh. Since most teams, including the Bulls,
overvalue their players I don't mind the Bulls wait to draft a 2 guard and continue to play the 3-headed monster at shooting guard.

Wait, you really think a 20-25 first round pick will land you a starter rookie sg in 2011?
Think again!
