for Melo and LaLa, IL has a flat rate of 5%, NY would be 8.98%. So on their overall income it's pretty significant.

That approx 4% difference could be quite a lot of money. Let's say together they make $50 million per year from basketball, LaLa and endorsements, investments, etc. This is where the state tax is huge for a power couple like them.

It could be as much as a couple of million dollars less in taxes in Chicago than in NYC.

Does this count the Millionaires Tax in NYC?

It's not like that at all. July and August can get pretty bad but besides those months it's not ridiculously hot in Houston. Plenty of former and current NBA players have homes in Houston. It's no NY or LA but Houston is easily one of the better destinations of the NBA cities and that is before you throw in the lack of state income tax.

I thought so too. I'm hopeful as everyone, of course, and would be thrilled to land Melo. My concern remains Rose's knee and the perceived disconnect with the FO. Additionally, Morey has swung more big deals than we have. Our track record in these situations is not stellar.

I want to be wrong, dammit!

In all seriousness, based on anecdotal evidence, NBA players do seem to enjoy Houston more than Chicago. The ones that go out at least.

The comparison has been done and has been posted a few times.

Here's how a max would compare in a few major cities:

How does it sound like Houston has him lol.

Just the way things sound I guess on twitter, and clutchfans. Plus they can still re-sign Parsons.

I can't see Melo passing up Bev, Harden, Parsons, and Dwight just to avoid the West.

Honestly this guy gets some slack from me, that avatar slays me every damn time I see it.

That is a terrible idea. They need length, defense and rebounding. Their offensive core is more than fine. They need to shore up around it, not add another iso offensive player with a limited complete game. He makes no sense for them.

It's between the Bulls and the Knicks.

Nobody wants to live in Houston, the weather is somehow worse than Chicago, and the city itself sucks. You KNOW LaLa doesn't want to go there, she can kiss her career goodbye.

Plus East vs West, he's not stupid. Bulls are a better fit.

Let's not start talking about cities shall we? Let's be reasonable men and women.

This is the Bulls board, buddy. We'll trash Houston up and down if we want.

Now me? I don't have anything to say about your city. Because I happen to like fat women.

Tell that to the thousands of celebrities and athletes that make their home here. Houston is a very diverse city like all of the three other major cities in the USA. I think Knick fans are being too nice to Melo.

Granted it was Dolan who made the move, but for Melo to have the Knicks gut their roster to trade for him so he could get max money, when he could have just signed as a FA that summer to a much better Knicks for a little less money, essentially choosing money over a chance to really compete... And then now to complain the Knicks are a bad team and suggest he might take less money to play for a better team elsewhere, especially a rival in the Bulls, I would expect Knick fans to be all over Melo. I am a little disappointed in them really. I guess they should be more mad with Dolan I suppose, but still.

Got a point there smh
