The scouting and whispers about him at the time, he doesn't "love" the game as much and that may be impair his play or effort. Yeah sure lol.

Even the KD one sucked if you ask me.

Traded all your foreseeable draft picks and two young players for these guys. Team has no assets outside of the only guy that showed up tonight.

Way to make a splash Mr new Billionaire owner.

At least with KD you could justify it by the fact that he is an all-time great player. Beal was solid starter at best, who happens to play the same position as their second best player. It was just a stupid trade that made zero sense on the court, and even less sense because they effectively stripped away any remaining depth from their roster. It was a KG and Paul Pierce trade the Nets made all over again.

Thats the thing, I dont think you could justify it (at that time) based on what KD was at one point. He was what 33 yrs old with all those injuries and mileage? He was never a physical specimen to begin with. This is what the Suns gave up, just for him:

Nets receive:
Mikal Bridges
Cameron Johnson
2023 first-round pick (from Phoenix)
2025 first-round pick (from Phoenix)
2027 first-round pick (from Phoenix)
2028 first-round pick swap (from Phoenix)
2029 first-round pick (from Phoenix)

I was high on Phoenix when the KD trade was made, then the Beal trade happened and I thought they were screwed.
KD & Booker make way too much for them to add another supermax and still fill out the team with everything they need. When "Big 3" teams happen, everyone takes a lot less money to make a functional team, that's not the case in Phoenix.

Miami
Lebron: $14.5M
Bosh: $14.5M
Wade: 14.2M

Cleveland
Lebron: $22M
Love: $19M
Kyrie: $14M

Golden State
Curry: $34M
Durant: $25M
Klay: $17m

Phoenix
KD: $47.6M
Beal: $47.7M
Booker: $36M

Phoenix basically only has 3 players that should be on a playoff roster.

I get flashbacks of young Jordan when I watch Ant. Not saying he is as good as MJ but he moves like him sometimes

Didn't he say something about football being his favorite sport and then people ran with it...?

As a Chicago native & bulls fan I’d gladly take Zach lavine over Bradley Beal 10/10

I posted at the time of the trade that Beal and Zach were basically a wash and the Suns did nothing but worsen their outlook. Some posters here thought I was wrong.

I actually thought about it last night. I feel the Suns new owner basically did what the old Russian Net owner did when he first got the team. (Paul Pierce and KG) He basically mortgaged the whole future of the franchise for aged vets and the team wasn't that good. It lasted all of one season but that destroyed the Nets for the next 4 seasons.

Like I said before, the Suns are stuck with this team. They might shuffle a few bench pieces around but that's about it.

You never know with those rumors. There was similar scuttlebutt about Ben Simmons, and that one hit a lot closer to the truth.

7 days out the week and twice on sunday. Zach has been just as good if not better than beal (and more healthy ironically) over the past 3 years.

I think the big 3 model only works when 1 of the big 3 is a great 2 way player and 1 is an elite defender. Big 3's that don't have the defense don't seem to work as well.

They are screwed, to be sure. The difference between them and us is that they could recoup a lot of those assets by trading KD and Book. Not really an option for us.

But even then they gave up soooo much for KD that they might not even be able to break even by trading those two (though Book presumably has superstar value).

Rough season for the seven tax paying teams:

Warriors - didn't make the playoffs

Clippers - Currently tied 2-2 in the first round

Suns - swept in the 1st round

Boston - positioned to make a deep run

Bucks - down 3-1 in the first round

Denver - Positioned for a deep run

Heat - Down 3-1 in the first round

It's possible that only 2 of the 7 teams make it past the first round.

Even after that lots of high spenders aren't thriving

Lakers - down 3-1 in the first round

76ers - down 3-1

Chicago - didn't make the playoffs

Mavs - 2-2 with the Clippers. One of these teams isn't making it past the first round

Timberwolves - advancing to 2nd round

Blazers - very bad for being very expensive

Knicks - looking good and not even fully healthy

Pelicans - about to get swept

Cavs - tied 2-2 in the first round

Raptors - didn't make the playoffs

Grizzlies - didn't make the playoffs

Everyone else is at least $10m below the first apron.

Spending =/= success
