C'mon, where is the respect for Omer?
He played superb in my opinion. Sure, he made some mistakes but all in all I think he was fantastic.

Why so serious?

Luol with 40. Now averaging 20+ ppg. Derrick with 13 assists and an efficient 16 points.
This team is going to be good when Boozer returns. Hopefully they can get the offense clicking like it was tonight on a regular basis.
I didn't like the letdown there at the end, though.

Re: Blazers post game analysis
I gotta say, Taj's rebounding numbers are really starting to be a concern. I understand he only played 21 minutes tonight, but staying on the floor is something he is going to have to fix. He picks up way too many stupid fouls. We need his defense (non existent) and rebounding (also invisible) to get this team through this stretch without Boozer.

BTW if we can beat portland without Boozer what does that say about the relative strength of the elite teams in the East vs West?
It means we elite

I don't want to sound like a sore winner, but man, B Roy is one whiny dude.
You can actually hear him over Thibs wampa screams, and that's saying something.

Re: Blazers post game analysis
Game ball goes to Luol Deng. What a night for the guy and I'm glad to see him bounce back and play like a stud. I talked about this in the game thread, but this game is evidence that Luol Deng can be good. The bottom line is that we need him to contribute in the fourth quarter. Outside of Rose, he's the only one capable of consistently scoring in the fourth. Lately I've heard this new thing about how Deng's skillset prevents him from contributing when the defense tightens up. Hogwash. There isn't a single player that can score 16-19 points through three quarters and contribute nearly nothing in the fourth. There's no reason to make up such excuses for him and there's also no reason to discredit his abilities. Deng, as you saw tonight, is good enough to be an impact player for four quarters. Today he showed it.
Taj Gibson's offense looks significantly improved to me. Is it just me, or is he dunking it with some nastiness this season? He's added a spin move to his arsenal. He's been really soft on the glass though -- a trend that began in the preseason. It's a bit troubling and he needs to step it up.
Asik is looking like a really nice addition.

Taj kept are front court thin the entire night. His productivity is canceled out by all the extra minutes Scals had to play.

Why is it shameful? he hasn't been playing that well. If his play continues to to be good nobody will criticise him.

I knew Deng would turn it around, good for him. A little consistency would be nice though

Re: Blazers post game analysis
Really good bulls game!
Luol with a preseason luol game. So we love him.
Our motion offense worked really good...created a lot of good shots.....Our frontcourt....(noah) with good passes and plays. I just missed a little bit mor of iso-plays.
Defense was good in half two..really terrific.....Asik will be a block monster soon!
Korver with his best season game as bull.
Thibs with good rotations...let JJ play at the SG position.
Rose isn't a PG..just 13ast!
Bad are some fouls...we got really in foul trouble...we need to stop this.
BAD BAD BAD...our FTs......damn...really bad....!

Derrick has a >20 point night and he's a MEH?!?!?
Noah has a >15 reb and >15 point night and he's a MEH!?!?!

nothing to complain about with either of those two. Noah played well, put up a double-double, and something that doesn't show up on the stat line-he stayed out of foul trouble when he had to.
Rose put up 13 assists with 3 TO's. Bravo!

I really hope no one jumps back on the Deng wagon after tonight.
Impressive performance to say the least...but in the fourth quarter of a close game, he's a ghost.

Re: Blazers post game analysis
The good:
- Derrick for most of the game. His defense has been solid so far this year. He looked for his shot early then started finding open players. My only knock would be the turnovers. Several were unforced.
- Luol. This is the guy from preseason. Obviously his offense was near perfect but his defense was good too. Batum who? Getting back to offense, this is really a best case scenario for Luol. Great ball movement and good player movement.
- Overall offensive execution. 110 points on 91 possessions with a ton of missed free throws. A ton of assists too. I love all the offensive plays, like weaves, double curls, spot ups in the corner.
- Asik. He continues to impress me.
- Overall defensive scheme. The Bulls were running out on Roy and 3p shooters and it really took Portland out of their offensive.
Meh
- JJ. Glad to see he got a chance to follow up on his last game. Didn't do much, but he does help on defense well.
- Gibson. Good on offense but wasn't boxing out well and reaching too much on defense.
Bad
- Noah. Not that bad, but I got to put someone here, right? I wasn't happy with his boxing out or defense.
Overall, this was a very well played game by the Bulls in all phases. Portland is a good team.

Re: Blazers post game analysis
Great win.
But seriously that game was actually painful to watch.
73 free throws? Really refs? 60 fouls?
For a game where the Bulls shoot 60% from the field, Luol goes for 40, and the game had no flow to it.
It should have been a spectacular game but it really wasnt.
