I don't fully believe that Lee can be the long-term answer at SG, I don't want to give a young and promising young 7-footer up for a 7-footer on his last legs, and I don't want to take the extra money on, even if it's not huge, for an old man.

Asik's value as a backup to this team, is not the same as Asik's value as a starter to another team. I value good defensive bigs too, especially active ones like Asik. But at the end of the day, our need for a legit starting 2 is greater than a backup center behind our 60 million dollar investment.

We get a legit starting two, who can hit threes and play good team defense. And we get a quality backup center, who's familiar with the players on the team and would give an extra offensive punch to the bench. We do all of this by essentially giving up a guy on our team who plays 11 minutes per game.

yeah...i really just see this as more posturing by Morey. the only reason we let Brad go is because we didn't want to match that contract Houston offered him. why would we give up Asik (who i'm deffinitely not over rating or overvaluing like many around here) in a Lee deal, and then be forced to take Brad's contract back in the process. seriously, the CHA pick for Lee is as high as we should go and should need to go (even that would be overpaying, IMO). i can see Morey not wanting to take the two late firsts, so you throw out the crazy potential of that Bobcats pick and see if they honestly turn that down. it's either the two late firsts or the CHA pick...which ever Morey likes more. I'd give up Taj or Asik in a Mayo deal, but not for Lee...and deffinitely not if we have to take back Brad. Kurt's old. Brad's old. We'd be giving up our potential long term back up to Jo to get Lee when we shouldn't have to with the picks we've got to deal. if Morey keeps playing hardball and we can't seem to get a Mayo deal done (looks pretty unlikely) then we toss a 2nd rounder at CLE and take Parker and look at this again in the summer.

I am now much more willing to do the trade for Lee realizing now (per Sham) that Miller's 3rd and final year of his contract guarantees him only $848,000. That means -- Korver ($500k guaranteed), Brewer, and Watson are almost essentially unguaranteed their final season.

That said -- not sure if I'd do Asik for Lee still. But tonight, Asik barely played. And I'm not a fan if this will be the trend if we keep Asik.

Seems like Gortat is way thicker. Is Omer really that much better equipped to slow him down than Noah?

Besides, I do like Omer and its not like I want to give him away or anything. I'm just confused by people projecting him as a double-double guy in the future. He's a good backup big man who will likely not play more than 15 minutes per game on any contender. I really don't foresee huge improvements coming for him like many seem to.

Asik is going to get stronger. And yes, with his lenght he could easily become a better Howard defender than Noah. No one is projecting him as a double double guy, he has a chance to become on of the better back up C's in the league though.

Actually somebody did say exactly that, which is what my original post referred to. here's the quote:

"Offensively he is raw, but he has quickness, a work ethic, and motivation. I wouldn't bet against him one day averaging double figures while pulling in 12+ rebounds and 3 blocks a game. "

If we are giving up Asik - it better be Jordan Hill coming back, not Miller.

Seriously overrating Hill... this guy is a BUST

Miller has only 2 yrs more... and he is MORE than an adequate backup

Understand after 1 year: Korver/Brewer/ & Brad all would be assets as Expiring Deals for a Major Trade.

Exactly. Brad is better than Omer now, and while Omer does have the potential to develop down the line, there's still a good chance he won't develop much, and even if he does, Brad's contract is movable, and you can replace Omer with someone who's sufficient to fill the relatively small role. Miller and Lee are way better than Asik alone.

Quick question. Why does everyone think the Charlotte pick has such great potential? Isn't it lotto protected for quite a few years?

And they're not a quick fix or a single good pick away from the playoff picture, especially with the East loading up. It has the potential to be a very good lotto pick down the line.

I don't mind them moving it, I just hope they're getting Mayo or Afflalo

Miller also gives the Bulls an offensive center off the bench and doesn't hurt the teams cap space. and Lee miller and keeping our picks is great long term. Still keeps u sin the hunt now and later if a true star at the two becomes available.

Are we holding this "potentially good lotto pick" to draft. or gain more leverage, because teams a few pieces a way from actually contending, don't usually care about picks in upcoming seasons, but rather getting the new team together, and gelling for a playoff run

If you're trading Asik, taking back Brad is a plus. Who cares about the money? Do you own part of the team or something? Brad's contract isn't likely to hurt us, and his play is still more than adequate. Without Asik, you need a big anyhow, and Miller is a great backup this year, and probably next year; even a year from now, Miller's contract would be easy to move almost regardless of his play.

The nice thing about that Charlotte pick is that it will gain value each season that it doesn't become ours as the protection decreases each year.

I would think the Bulls don't end up waiting all the way until the pick is actually ours, but wait long enough that the pick really picks up value.

How long is the pick lotto protected? I wouldn't be surprised to see Charlotte in the lotto for the next couple of seasons, especially with everyone coming East.

From that "TheRealC_Los" account:
It appears #Celtics may have traded @semihErden to the #Rockets. The #Celtics have also had trade interest in Courtney Lee.
