Step 1: Lee for Watson + Brewer
Step 2: Let Asik walk
Step 3: Use the MMLE on a Center

Actually not sure if Step 1 will work because of the June 10 Deadline. We can come to a verbal agreement with Lee but not sure if we can ship Watson + Brewer out because it wouldn't be official the next day and they'd already have to be cut. Can anyone confirm this? Obviously Houston would opt out on their agreements but if they can't then the deal won't work.

If so, then we have no choice but to Send Korver for Lee.

We'd be essentially sending Korver + Asik for Lee. Not sure that is worth it.

Also another option is Marcus Camby signing for the MMLE 3 years, 3rd year team option.

This is what I've come to the conclusion could work for us:

June 10, 2012
Chicago Bulls opt out of Ronnie Brewers Contract, Opt In to keeping CJ Watson

June 14, 2012
Houston Rockets complete offer to Omer Asik
Houston Rockets Sign and Send Courtney Lee + Marcus Camby to the Chicago Bulls for Kyle Korver and/or CJ Watson
Chicago Bulls will not match offer for Omer Asik

- Camby gets a 3 year $10.5M offer with us with a team option on his third year. This gives Camby a 2 year guaranteed deal on a contender which I doubt anyone will offer him the MLE.

- Lee gets a 4 year $25M offer with us with no team option on his forth year (per his request).

Unless we're getting better, Asik will be a Bull next year. Unless that really isn't their plan but rather to manipulate people with the ultimate goal to earn $.

I just think the LT is a clear concern with the Bulls. We haven't looked at some guys this summer because of it and year 3 of that deal will put us in the same boat. Also I know people say worry about that in year 3 but you can't. IMO if you match that deal you need to trade one of Boozer and Noah ASAP. You can't wait and say we'll worry about it when the time comes. Also matching that deal you're also saying Gibson is gone next year if we don't move Noah or Boozer. Gibson is going to command 7-9 mil on the open market.

The Bulls are going to need to deal one of Noah or Boozer now or let one of Gibson or Asik go. I don't want Noah dealt and out of Gibson and Asik, IMO Gibson is better. With Boozer I'm not sure there is a trade out there for him just dumping his contract as of it.

I like Asik and would love for Jerry to say I'm paying the tax and give me a hundred million dollar payroll. I just don't see Jerry doing that.

Also people have seemed to forget that year 3 is when Mirotic is suppose to be coming over. He's going to make the MLE or above on his first deal IMO. We need to save money for that. All you need is 3 good bigs. We've been spoiled with four of them, but 3 is what you only need. The Bulls need to let one go as hard as that sounds.

In regards to the thread topic, I'm holding out hope that we can land one of Kirk or West for a deal under the MMLE. Those are my top two choices of available guys. Either can switch over to SG upon Derrick's return and be that combo guy off the bench. I personally prefer West over Kirk. It might not be sexy but if we can add Delfino for the MMLE and one of West or Kirk, that will be okay with me.

Edit: Also keep in mind that Tuesday is the date we have to decide on Watson. So I think we'd need to get a commitment by Sunday night from someone. So we should know something here soon. If money is equal I'm taking CJ over Kirk but probably not over West. I think West is good and fits this team better in the long run over Watson.

Getting excited for players like Hinrich,Rush,Tom Poulos etc... just shows how badly Bulls fans have had it the past 15 years.

The Bulls seem close to something with Kirk HInirch... talking with Derrick Fisher too, but Kirk seems to be top option

For what's needed for Kirk and a price tag of 3 mil or under he is worth it. He can defend two's and hit the open three. He also can play two positions.

Yep, what would be nice is use a S&T for one of Kirk or Lee. The Bulls like Lee a lot so I think they are trying whatever they can IMO.

To me, I don't really mind Kirk over Fisher or vice versa. I think what they bring at this point is limited. I would like to see them go after Camby and let go of Asik.

Lee is interesting if only because he is a player the Bulls have targeted multiple times in the past - and there is a relationship between Thibs and the player.

It may be possible they are considering working out a trade to get Lee at a price above what they had been willing to spend in FA. I'm not the biggest Lee fan, but this FO values him - so my hope is that they are willing to work a deal to get him here. He can definitely be a contributor.

Kirk is so much better than fisher in my eyes, with Kirk i could live with, i like him because he was a bull, and seems like good guy, can play 1-2, shoot 3, defend 1 or 2, and for that price that ralph said it would be great deal, and Lee also athletic, good defender and shooter, mix of Ronnie and Kyle, maybe little worse than Ronnie in defense and than Kyle in shooting, but overall better player than both of them, so him for the right price would be great, and if we dont keep Asik, camby would be great!

He fits Thibs so well. He can score and defend and has nice size. He's a two way player. Raja Bell is who he reminds me of really. He seems like a nice glue guy to me. I really want Lee. Always have

I can see the Bulls move Asik though if they get Lee back. The deal I had with Camby makes sense for both teams.

Lee + Camby for Korver + Watson

- We let Asik walk
- Get Lee
- Get backup Center which Camby should agree to being he'll get a possible 3 year deal worth more than the MMLE.
- We keep the MMLE
- Houston gets a Backup PG they'll need
- They can choose to keep Korver or clear an additional $5M

If Houston says no, we tell them we'll just match Asik and you know Morey won't want that. I don't see Camby resigning there so I think it's a win win for both teams.

My thinking then if we let Asik walk

Hinrich / Lucas III / Teague
Lee / Hamilton
Deng / Butler
Boozer / Gibson
Noah / Camby

Camby on a 3 year deal with the 3rd year being a team option gives us 2 years to figure out how fix this backup Center Spot. It gives Camby the potential to win on a contender and it also gives his a paycheck more than the MMLE.

We'd be over the tax by 5 or 6 million.
