I"m a little confused. I have the Bulls at $72,027,125 for total salary right now. If that's true, the Bulls have enough money to sign T-Mac to the veteran minimum and sign Malcolm Thomas to his veteran minimum and still be under the $74M hardcap.

However, my confusion lays on Hinrich's salary. Are the reports that we signed him for two years, $8M accurate? How would we be able to do that? If I"m missing something and he did sign for that amount, then you're right, the Bulls only have room to add 1 player, and it can't be a 10-year+ vet for the minimum.

$15.507m - Rose - actually about 16.4 million due to new max

Ok that makes sense then. That would put the Bulls at around $72.9 million, which isn't enough for a 10-year+ vet at the minimum, and only enough for a player like Malcolm Thomas or Nate Robinson at the minimum.

Since the taxpayer MLE starts at $3.09m, your number is at least those 0.11 off. Overall I have 71.0 so far for 12 players.

$15.507m - Rose
$15.000m - Boozer
$13.365m - Deng
$11.300m - Noah
$5.000m - Hamilton
$3.090m - Hinrich
$2.156m - Gibson
$1.957m - Belinelli
$1.067m - Butler
$0.857m - Teague
$0.854m - Radmanovic
$0.854m - Mohammed

A). Teague makes about $1m
B). Rose makes $16.6m
C). You added more salary. The actual number appears to be around $72m to $72.5m
D). The Bulls could sign a 15th player later this season possibly after waivers week after deadline.

They can afford 2 guys at 855k

I have 72.2m. Teague doesn't make 855k, he makes about $1000k.

We didn't use the taxpayer MLE, we used the BAE and MLE - hence why we are capped at 74 million.

Teague is at $1,028,400 when he signs for the full 120%. I had that in the salary I gave. My confusion is just whether or not Hinrich did indeed sign for the taxpayers MMLE, rather than the 2/8M, which I think was a typo.

I'd like to know the exact amount for Rose's new first year salary though.

Here's my numbers

Rose 16.4025
Boozer 15
Deng 13.365
Noah 11.3
Hamilton 5
Hinrich 4
Gibson 2.155811
Butler 1.06692
Teague 1.0284
Belinelli 1.9
Mohammed 0.854389
Radmanovic 0.854389

TOTAL 72.974

Now, if you reduce Kirk to 3.6 million, you're able to fit two min salary guys in there.

Teague only makes 120% when we sign him He's only on the books for $857k right now. I suppose it's possible to sign 2 more vet mins then say to Teague, sorry, we literally can't offer you any more.

I forgot Kirk was making $4m, not $3m. Sigh.

Now my numbers are off. Looks like we're actually close to $73m but if the Bulls are truly looking to add 2 guys then these numbers maybe off.

I've seen it reported as 16.4 on most legit sites.

believed to be for two years and worth about $8 million.

That is KC exact quote. He says "believed" and "worth about". Those are two things to look at. It's clear if the Bulls are looking to add 2 more guys that Kirk did not get 4 mil in year 1.

So did Kirk sign for $3 or $4M of the non-taxpayers MLE? That'd bump my salary to $73.922M

Well, I thought the $15.506m is already the raised max, given the fact that this is the number Durant received last season and the projected BRI did not change. Thus, why should he have received a further raise? The max previously for him was $12.922m.

The Bulls did not use the full MLE, but the taxpayer MLE. The BAE alone is enough to set the cap at $74m.

Teague did NOT sign for 120%. His caphold is still $0.857m. Radmanovic and Mohammed are counting with $0.854m against the cap.

Their actually cap hit is only for two year minimum salary though. All minimum salary for players with zero or 20 years experience counts as the two year minimum in regards to the apron, which is 74.307 million.

Wait, what. Doesn't every rookie sign for 120%. Unofficial standard protocol?

This is what the big Xavier Henry row was about for Memphis, and they did eventually give him that.

Rose got a raise due to the Derrick Rose provision. The BRI did change, the cap and tax levels did not since they were previously negotiated to be this level.

The question isn't Bulls cap space, it's Bulls cap cost with regards to the apron, which no applies with the signing of Hinrich (with the MLE either all of it or part of it) AND/OR Belinelli to the BAE. Unless the Bulls acquire Hinrich via TPE and sign Belinelli with part of the MMLE, the Bulls have to compete with the apron.

You can't use the MMLE and the BAE. If you use the BAE, you're using the MLE. Now we didn't have to sign Kirk to the full MLE, but we surely signed him to more than the MMLE.

Teague hasn't signed yet - but he will and it will be for 120% (1.04), so for all intents and purposes this is the number that needs to be used for calculating space under the hard cap.
