He's been one of the best assistants in the NBA for a good amount of time.

according to who? he's never even been a lead assistant anywhere.
to be a good head coach, a person has to at least give off the impression that he's a good communicator (imo, that's how VDN and mark jackson got their jobs). ewing isnt that and never has been.

Yeah, he should accept that coaching job in the DLeague.
Are there cheerleaders in the DLeague?

The currently the NBA is all about guard play. I would guess that guard play is not Ewings strong point. He should go to Dleague and prove to the GMs what he can do.

David (I think im banned you never answer my questions): Does ewing deserve more credit with his work with yao and now howard? he gets no love when kareem got kudos for his work with andrew bynum.
David Thorpe: You wanna get banned-keep asking Ewing questions. When I go to Magic games, I get there 3 hours early to watch the players prepare. I see all the Magic assistants putting players through their paces, save one. Guess which guy sits on the first row chairs and talks to the dancers?
One source close to Ewing said the Hall of Famer felt a bit slighted by the Knicks' offer to coach the Erie Bayhawks because he has already established himself in the NBA.
"Patrick has paid his dues," the source said. "He was a little insulted."
So basically, he's lazy and arrogant.

no wonder he needs a job that badly.
