Not sure you need to look for a specific comparison.

What I like is what I think we will be able to do with his skills.

I really believe that we will be able to use his post skills in our lethargic offense. I call it that because we actually run an offense. It is one that pulls the bigs away from the basket. I really believe we will be able to get him in postions to get miss matches, and use our bigs, who are great passers, to set him up to be able to work in iso in the post. Much like we saw him do in college.....and yes, I believe he will be able to post and shoot over most shooting guards, and many small forward.

I also believe you will see him in similar "Korver" sets, coming off multiple screens for shots, and in the corner, shooting the open 3.

We have a predictable, yet effective offense.

molepharmer wrote:The only college player mentioned that can match McDermott in shooting percentage is Korver. Everybody else has fallen a bit short. Rice was close and some of the older names Bird and Mullin were before the 3pt shot - so it's hard to compare them directly.

Regardless of how Doug turns out in the NBA, he was one of the very best college shooters in history, based on FG% and range. You might find some better, but it'll be very few over an entire college career.

Worth taking a gamble with this guy because he might just surprise alot of the naysayers and have a reasonable overall game, besides just lights out shooting (which we know he can do for sure).

Adam Morrison was a bust. McDermott is a more complete player he sounds more like a Chris Mullin. I am not saying he's going to score 25 points a game but his game is similar to Mullin. If McDermott gets stronger he could end up being the best or one of the best player in the 2014 draft.

I think you can remove lite from all but Larry and maybe Dirk.

Wait, Chris Mullin is middle ground? (And to lesser extend, Robinson and Rice) Mullin is a hall of famer, I'd be ecstatic if he ended up even close to what Mullin was!

Kirk? Hinrich? Their games are drastically different. Not even close in style. You must mean someone else...?

Wally Szcerbiak. Both could be defensive liabilities and are tweeners, but boy could they flat out score. I know who his biggest fan will be!

He really plays like a Doug McDermott and I'm completely fine with that. ^^ I hope he will get his few minutes from game one.

We were running out of white boys for comparison so someone must have thrown Kirk in there.

Luol Deng?

Some of these other comparisons are absurd.

In what universe is Chris Mullin "middle ground"? ... he's a freaking HOFer, Dreamteamer, and one the best 50 players ever to play the game. If McDirty is anything close to prime Mullin, the Bulls are winning it all.

Exactly. I love how there are all these bulls players listed as well. As if there is no one else who has ever played the game.

Loved Mullin. Such a great shot!
