just heard a rumor that a deal has possibly been constructed to get Kevin Martin in exchange for Tony Snell, Mike Dunleavy, and a 2015 second round pick.

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showth ... p?t=353069

I don't believe this, but if this were to happen what would you guys think?

I've wanted this to happen for a while now. You could probably post this in the Dunleavy thread.

i dont think Martin is worth it imho. he's more expensive with more years than dunleavy and after looking at the advanced stats, like real plus minus he doesnt compare to dunleavy. PER shows martin much better but a lot of people say that metric is overrated.

Martin for that makes a ton of sense. The only contracts that would be on the books in 2017 are Noah's extension, any potential Butler extension, McDermott, and your draft picks between now and then.

Rose/Brooks
Martin/Hinrich
Butler/McDermott
Gasol/Mirotic
Noah/Gibson

That's insane depth. MIGHT be enough to get past Cleveland.

Is this a serious post? In the event that it is, no, the deal won't work without some salary added to Dunleavy, and really, Snell is the least we could add as a guy who was a 20th pick, wasn't particularly great as a rookie and doesn't really have a set place in our current rotation.

Furthermore, the rumor is saying that it would be a 2nd round pick, not a 1st. This deal needs to happen ASAP.

Yeah, I like Snell and all but if this is the deal, I would say you have to pull the trigger and not look back. Even though I'm not a huge Kevin Martin fan, he'd be a solid addition.

Can't win with someone like that.

The only problem with Martin is that hes pretty injury prone. I would probably take 80 games of Dunleavy over 50 games of Martin. But our ceiling with Martin is definitely a little higher.

I don't know how much truth there is to this rumor (haven't heard or seen anything from the local Minnesota guys) but I do know this: The Wolves are sitting on 15 guaranteed contracts right now and would like to free up a spot for Glen Robinson III so a 1 for 2 type deal seems unlikely.

So something like Kevin Martin and whoever you guys are trying to dump?

Who are you guys trying to really dump anyways?

His defense is another problem.

Barea but he makes it really hard to match salaries (plus he sucks).

Martin is currently in the Chicago area house hunting

These rumors always lose credibility with me when I hear something like this.

Yea that would make it hard to do especially with the Bulls since we have basically 3 PGs.

The Wolves could throw in a guy like Hummel (one year guaranteed at minimum) but they just signed him and Flip wants a 4 that can stretch the floor. Turiaf doesn't make much but with Pek's injury history I can't see Flip moving him either. This seems like a trade that is contingent on another one happening first to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if MDJr was going to a 3rd team. Minnesota would get a ton of savings both immediately and in the long term.

At 1 year $3M, Dunleavey is probably pretty easy to move.
