Shawn Marion - F - Mavericks

It appears Shawn Marion is not re-signing with Dallas based on his comments this weekend.
"It was memorable, baby," Marion said. "It’s hard to say it wasn’t fun. We had a great run and made the playoffs four of five years and won a championship. We set goals every year, and most years we reached them. And to win a championship, it was unbelievable. I wish we could have made a couple more runs at it, but it is what it is." He's expected to sign with a contender as an unrestricted free agent.

Looks like a return to Dallas is out....come on home Matrix!

If we can't get Marion, I would actually prefer Udoh as a backup big (just realized he wasn't signed yet). Though I am guessing he wants to go somewhere where he will get playing time. Udoh is good though, surprised he is not signed (same goes for Bernard James too).

Udoh never did anything for me. Bernard James I really like. He's tough. But Dallas only has Chandler and Greg Smith signed, and they might want another center. Unless they consider Brandan Wright a center, which I guess is possible. 82games shows him primarily at C for them last year. If that's the case, then James should be available, and I'd certainly rather have him than Nazr. Get out there and push some guys around, man.

Is Bernard James a RFA? If so, they could just be waiting to match an offer because I thought they liked him in Dallas. If not, I would like him on the Bulls. He is not the tallest of folks, but he is strong and plays really aggressive and gets after it.

I admit I did not see much of Udoh after leaving the Warriors, but while on the Warriors (and in college too) I liked him. Offensively, he's not the most polished, but he knows that (doesn't force things). But he does set real solid screens and gets after rebounds physically. Defensively, his help-side response time is pretty quick. He doesn't get moved off the block easily (he's strong). And he has pretty quick hands, not to mention really long arms. Overall I think he is an intelligent defender, and I think Thibs would enjoy having him on the roster. But I think he is looking for more minutes then he would get here.

Roster roulette: After signing Aaron Brooks, the Bulls no longer are in talks with Toney Douglas. They do plan on signing at least one and possibly two more players to veteran minimum contracts. Their targets are one more big man for depth and a wing.

For some reason I read Udoh as Beno Udrih and got very excited.

False alarm.

They're going to disband the Cubs? That makes sense...why waste good professionals on a crappy franchise.

Is Udrih still with Memphis or did they cut him?

He's not spectacular, but I have always appreciated his offensive game given his physical limitations. Defensively he is pretty terrible, but offensively he typically makes the right play (that he is capable of making). But with Brooks and Hinrich he is not necessary.

I like the report that the Bulls are focusing on a wing and a backup big, we're on the same page. First step is hiring a hypnotist to bring in on the "negotiations" with Marion and Udoh/Oden/O'Neal/etc. Smooth talk them into happily taking the minimum then we will be well on pur way to adding another trophy to that photo Jerry.

Boom.
