If Hinrich IS the "worst", Brooks is a close second.

If Hinrich IS the "worst", Brooks is a close second.

Post#1 » by JerrySloan » Sun Mar 1, 2015 10:21 pm

In his last 3 games, Brooks has played 90 minutes, has shot 11 for 44 overall, 5 for 19 on 3s, 5 for 10 FTs and played ZERO D.

If you want HInrich out of the rotation, then, for at least a few games, Moore should get most if not all of his minutes and probably some of Brooks 30 MPG. He is 6" 4", by far a better defender and CAN shoot 3s, if not as well. If Thibs won't give him a shot at meaningful PT, WTF is he doing on the team? It's not like he is Bairstow or even Nazr.

It really is dumber than not playing McDermott, given the fact that the two guys who are playing ahead of him - Snell and Mirotic - have shown themselves to be deserving of at least as much PT as they have been getting.

And please don't say "it's only 3 bad games" for Brooks. It is a dead certainty that he is a huge liability on D which cannot be afforded with Butler and Taj out and Gasol playing big minutes. If anything, Thibs, with his penchant for defense first and last, SHOULD recognize the additional burden Brooks starter's minutes put on the D.

Hinrich's shooting sucks, but Thibodeau sees contributions beyond the boxscore. This should be a comfort to us all since if stats were all that mattered, a monkey could determine minutes allocations based on PER.

You comparing whole Hinrich's season with Brooks slump 3 game streak? Seems legit.

The Hinrich defenders are a sad bunch at this point.

Brooks is good for a backup

Brooks is really no better than Kirk as a starting SG. Neither can run an offense at all, Brooks compensates with some 3 point shooting, and Kirk compensates with adequate (as opposed to bad) defense. But those are details. Bottom line is they are both awful starters.

. Now Brooks is a good gunner sparkplug for a second unit, as long as you don't expect playmaking. Kirk I am not sure what he offers any more.

I think Brooks is just in a slump; he's been a productive PG in this league before. On the Hinrich issue, I'm gonna trust Thibs and his guts, even though I think Hinrich should be a coach or in the front office.

There's so much PG talent in this league and yet the Bulls continually try to pull rabbits out of hats finding backups for their oft injured star. It doesn't look like there's another rabbit in that hat this time.

He was clearly better. Although his playoff value is debatable; the Wiz sorted him out last season and shut him down. That said, I don't think Brooks has a prayer of being good in the playoffs, look how opposing teams are stuffing him now that he is a starter. The defenses will only get better in the playoffs.

absolutely true, but the wiz shut down a role player who was forced to be one of our top two playmakers. Assuming we are healthy this year ( ) he would have been put further down the list of offensive options and the wiz would be too busy dealing with Derrick, Jimmy, Niko, Noah and Pau to gameplan for DJ.

Kirk is will always be a favorite of mine but picking him over DJ was a mistake.
