Jeff Van Gundy Express Interest In Pelicans Job

Not sure if this warrants a separate thread. Perhaps ill merge it into the Thibs/Pelicans thread.

KC reporting that it might be Bulls or bust with Thibs. Nobody seems all that interested in hiring him.

Doesn't appear like anybody is going to help us out by being out of town stupid on the Thibs front, unfortunately.

Looks like teams are starting to come to my way of thinking...Thibs is not a good coach.

KC also making it sound like the Bulls delaying is not based on compensation but rather making sure they make the right basketball more.

The Lakers have also shown interest in Thibs.

Bulls better hurry though. The more Cleveland stomps everyone in their path, the more taking them to 6 doesn't look so bad.

Van Gundy showing interest in the Pelicans (not the other way around) shows that Thibs is a bad head coach.

Any interest in any other coach on the planet means Thibs is a bad coach.

Good stuff. Very logical.

I wasn't just going off Van Gundy. I was going off the other recent news that these teams are not as interested in Thibs as we were led to believe. News like this:

Pretty clear by the responses that no one here has ever negotiated as you'd see this is nothing but all sides playing their leverage.

Bulls can't be in a hurry to move them or they lose theirs and the teams that want him can't overstate their interest because then it hurts their power.

A gm went on the radio and backed a head coach? Surely after all of Pax's public endorsements of Thibs on the radio, there is nothing to worry about then, this is all for nothing.

I sincerely hope you're able to decipher the massive difference between Pax's public endorsements of Thibs and what Kupchak just did.

Anyways, we should see pretty soon how this plays out. Hopefully your aggressive confidence is vindicated and we get some draft picks for Thibs.

There isnt much difference. This is also the second time the Lakers are interested, the first they asked for permission to interview Thibs. But hey, guess we all beleive what we want to at this stage.

FYI, getting a draft doesn't make Thibs a good coach, or vice versa. His record and resume do.

If in fact true, then it means Pelicans have no interest in trading for Thibs or give up anything remotely valuable for him. JVG and Thibs are close friends, they have talked throughout this whole drama. JVG probably knows from Thibs that a trade to the Pelicans isnt likely. Lot of back channel chatter we will never hear of. I seriously doubt JVG would undercut his boy like that.

KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Guys, I hate to break it to everyone but I too have expressed interest in the Pelicans job. Mark, please don't feel the need for a new thread for this breaking news. *fingers crossed*

The Lakers aren't going to screw over one of their own in Byron.

The Lakers are also not going to pay 4 NBA head coaches at the same time.
