What are you "Please Don'ts" for Fred
I'm sure you guys have a lot of things that you'd suggest the coaching staff not do. Might be fun to compare notes.
Here are a few to get us started:
1) Please don't play Kirk and Noah together
2) Please don't leave starters on the floor with 20pt leads and 5 min remaining in games
3) Please don't play Jimmy 40 MPG

I have some please DO's:
1) Take into account playoff seeding. Lose a few games tactically if you must - but be smart about the playoffs, not just the regular season.
2) Utilize all resources you have at your disposal - scouts, Jen Swanson and team, younger players, experienced vets, assistant coaches - USE ALL YOUR RESOURCES.
3) Connect with Rose. He is Chicago.

For love, not money.

Totally agree that this year is about assessing/developing Niko, Doug and Tony as well as being healthy for playoffs. I would take 8th seed with those things happening over relying too much on vets and having 2 or more guys less than 80% heading into playoffs.

Please don't hand out entitlement minutes.
Please don't play Gasol 12 minutes straight.
Please don't let Rose get 3pt happy.
Please don't ignore how important defense still is.

Re: What are you "Please Don'ts" for Fred
DONT'S:
1. Please don't wear down the guys by playing them too many minutes. There is no reason for anyone on the team to average more than 34-35 MPG, and aside from Butler & Rose, no one really even needs to average 30 MPG.
2. Please don't try to force anyone to play out of position (Niko at SF, Snell at PG, etc)
3. Please don't play Jo & Pau together for significant minutes (I realize there will be times when they will both have to be on the floor, but less is more; likewise when it comes to pairing Jo & Kirk)
4. Please don't treat defense as an afterthought.
DO'S:
1. Please give the younger players a longer leash than Thibs tended to do. This does NOT mean give them entitlement minutes no matter how they are playing, however. In fact, entitlement minutes are a bad idea for most of the players on the roster (exceptions being Rose, Butler & maybe Gasol).
2. Please push the tempo. It shouldn't take 8-10 seconds to get the ball over halfcourt and set up the offense.
3. Please try and teach the Bulls how to finish shots around the rim. I've never seen a team miss so many shots right at the basket as the team seemed to do last year
4. Please listen to the players' ideas. Open communication is important. But, please do NOT put ANY individual player's interests ahead of the team's interests.

Please don't stick Pau in the corner as a part of any offensive set.
Please don't tell Rose that his 3 point shot is more efficient than his mid-range jumper.
Please don't play Noah more than 25 minutes...ever!!
And whatever you do...Please don't ever read RealGM. You've got ticker issues as it is.

Agree with you on Niko at SF, he would be a turnstile on defense.
Please push the tempo. It shouldn't take 8-10 seconds to get the ball over halfcourt and set up the offense.
It's not taking that long- 8 seconds is a violation. I get your point.

PLEASE don't play Rose & Kirk together. EVER again.
PLEASE don't start Doug JUST because he's your prized pupil. Tony can be just as good, if not much better.
PLEASE give E'Twuan Moore an opportunity. The man can play basketball & rarely, if ever, makes a mistake on the floor.
PLEASE DON'T get choked out by Goon Status aka John Pax

(a) Don't play vets just because they are vets and won't make your pet peeve mistakes.
(b) Don't not play the young guys because they are young and will absolutely make your pet peeve mistakes, before learning not to by, well, playing.
(c) Don't let regular season win totals obscure the importance of developing the roster to maximize the postseason ceiling.
(d) The "City of Chicago" and what some people claim that means can suck it. I.e., Don't let Derrick Rose just do whatever the hell he wants without consequence. Yelling at him like he's one of the guys doesn't cut it. If he plays stupid, cut his minutes until he plays smart. He's smaller than the team, not bigger.
(e) Be aware of minutes, but don't freak out thinking that 39 minutes per game is medieval torture or something. It depends on who the player is and how it fits into the big, long term picture.

Don't run the "Noah stands at the 3 point line with the ball" offense.
Don't give minutes to guys who are over 30 just because they're over 30.
