MCW/Snell trade UPDATE - Agreed in principle

Interesting if true. Obviously MCW has more of a name for himself and was a lottery pick, but he's been a really average player for the Bucks and we have no need for yet another PG.

I know we'd be lucky to get anything of value for Snell, but this is a bit of an unusual deal.

Thoughts?

KC says the deal should be finalized Monday.

I'm guessing MCW immediately becomes the backup PG. It wasn't looking like Snell was going to play anyway, so it's whatever.

Hard to understand when we have so many non-shooters on the roster. MCW is an upgrade over Dinwiddie, but then you lose Snell's shooting. I guess the Bulls were just ready to move on from Snell and thought MCW was the best they could get in return.

I would think something would be added to Snell.

The nonshooting thing is a concern, but this is very much in line with what Hoiberg has been harping about having as many playmakers on the floor as possible. Considering Snell hasn't amounted much to anything, this would be a good trade.

Snell did a good job on Lebron when we played

Valentine and Doug were both ahead of Snell. Also Cannan is a shooter who really isn't a PG. You look at Grant and Spencer and the Bulls just upgraded their back up PG big time. Also nice insurance for next season too. I like the trade

That's pretty awesome return for Tony Snell.

What are the Bulls adding to the deal though?

If so, hope it's nothing significant. If the Bulls are giving value to bring MCW in, given our PG situation already, I think it's a mistake, imo.

This is an odd trade, I guess Bulls see Grant as a backup SG and they don't trust Dinwidie or Cannon.

At the very least, MCW can rebound well for a PG, and is another guy that can play the passing lanes. Should help the 2nd unit defense.

They can still play minutes together, with MCW just defending the bigger guards.

This deal though not mind-blowing, but we still get the more talented player, and he can decently play 3 positions so he will be a decent utility player for us off the bench. The biggest downside is that I'll have to see his annoying face on a regular basis.

MCW is good posting up undersized guards. He also is pretty good at getting steals. He's not a good perimeter shooter and questionable decision making. I think he has a higher upside as a backup PG for the Bulls than Snell does as a backup wing.

Whether this works or not will depend on the lineup and rotation, of course. But if MCW is gonna come off the bench playing with our shooters like Canaan, Doug, and Niko (I'm thinking Taj is getting that starting PF job), his defense + rebounding + playmaking will be much more needed than perimeter shooting. Plus he provides an insurance for if/when Rondo goes down.

This is fantastic for us. I cant count how many times Snell never showed up for us. Every year it was his year to take a leap in his play, but he constantly looked lost out there. MCW is much better than him and any backup PG we have. Portis is going to be the next Snell in we are going to constantly wait for his leap that never happens

Main consensus from Bucks fans is that he is a bad PG - can't dribble, can't shoot, bad instincts etc.

I'm guessing he's a solid defender/rebounder, etc., but to be honest, I'm not a fan. I would rather just get a 2nd rounder or Vaughn from them.
