Cards @ Reds Games 38-40

Post#1 » by el loco » Thu May 12, 2011 6:19 am

The Reds just finished taking 2 of 3 from the Astros. In Games 1 and 2 of that series the Reds starting pitchers were great and they both helped themselves out at the plate. Wood hit a 3 run blast and Bailey, era 0.69 after 2 starts, helped himself out with a single that eventually scored on.

The Reds return home to face the team that is in first place, The Cardinals.

Game 1: Friday the 13th at 7:10 pm et

Pitchers:

Kyle Lohse (4-2, 2.24)

Vs

Bronson Arroyo (3-3, 3.68)

This will be the first game of a 7 game home stand, I will probably go to a couple of these games, 3 against the Cards, 2 against the Cubs, and 2 against the Pirates. After that, interleague play begins.

The Reds took the first two games in this series to move into first place. It would be nice to get the win today and take a game and a half lead on the division. Carpenter is taking the hill for the Cards today, and he has been a bit of a Reds killer in the past, so it should be interesting because he hasn't been the Carpenter of old yet this year.

They got the sweep, but danged if they didn't try to give away a game that they had a 9-2 lead in. Chapman has totally lost his control. I know Dusty said that he won't send him down to the minors to work on it, but you can't keep running him out there with him pitching the way he is.

I don't know what the deal was with Cordero and the Cards dugout after the game. Me and the old lady had decent seats today, but we couldn't tell who he was yelling at. I guess I will have to try and catch the replay tonight to see what it was all about.

Brandon Phillips is fun to watch, the guy is always happy. I hope he makes the all-star game this year, so far he has been deserving of it.

I would still like to add a quality starting pitcher and maybe bring up Sappelt see how he does in left and leading off.
