Fogg looked like he was throwing batting practice on Wednesday against the Pirates. Fogg struggled with location, leaving most of his pitches in the middle of the plate, and the Pirates hit four homers and scored eight runs on 11 hits in three innings.
Giants:
It's later than expected, but Barry Zito is finally putting together the second half that his career numbers suggested he was capable of. Zito's August ERA improved to 2.76 after his last start against the Cubs, who he held to two runs in eight innings. Other than the two-run fourth, Zito pitched a near flawless game. He gave up just two hits outside the inning and issued no walks. Zito has surrendered two earned runs over his past 15 innings pitched.
