Astros at home vs. A's 4/5 - 4/7 Series Thread

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Thu Apr 4, 2013 10:40 pm

You know, when I went to click on the team page on another website to get the information for the starters for this series I instantly looked on the NL side for our Astros...

Well, the good news is that the Astros are only 1 game under .500. The bad news is that we're 1-2. Next up are the innovators of moneyball - the Oakland A's. Fortunately this is a home series so I will be able to watch the games since they are early.

Well...in theory. Still no resolution on CSN Houston, so no Astros for 60% of the Houston area.

On to the games!

Friday, 4/5 8:10 PM CDT The Astros will send Brad Peacock against the A's Dan Straily

Saturday, 4/6 7:10 PM CDT The Astros will send Erik Bedard against Bartolo Colon

Sunday, 4/7 2:10 PM CDT The Astros will send Bud Norris (1-0) against Brett Anderson (0-1)

I may try to go to the Sunday game if I have the time.

If they keep the strikeouts under double digits per game in this series, I will be very disappointed. And shocked.

Not that I can see the games anyways...
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Following the game results on CBS since I'm part of the 60%, but Straily already has 7 K's in the 4th quarter. Peacock has five, but has a pretty damned high pitch count.

Astros down by one and not showing any signs of offense.

Straily with 11 K's, the A's with 13 overall.

After the game Straily was told by the A's that he was being sent back down to AAA. Man...I wish we had that kind of talent ready at that level! I know that we have a highly rated farm system once again (kudos, Luhnow & company), but it doesn't sound like any of them are ready for the Big League call up.

Still..."Congrats on the win and 11 K's, Dan. Now get on the bus - you're going back to AAA."

One day after the Kstros acquired Travis Blackley he injures his shoulder. No idea how much time he will miss if any.

The Astros top defensive play of the series was this one by Cedeno...

which should just about sum everything up.

Kstros fall to the A's today 9-3, striking out 14 times today. 0-3 vs. the A's in this series to drop to 1-5.

The Kstros next 9 games are in-division on the West Coast with late start times for all but one afternoon game.
