2014 Houston Astros Games Thread

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Tue Apr 1, 2014 1:30 pm

The 2014 season kicks off tonight at Minute Maid Park with three games against the Yankees!

Feldman will be pitching in the opener for the Astros against Sabathia for the Yankees.

The big question - after three straight 105 loss seasons is anyone actually paying attention to these guys? It may sound disrespectful, but it deserves to be asked. This team is the definition of "tanking." Granted, it has led the organization to one of, if not THE best farm systems in MLB; but how will that transfer into butts in seats at the park?

Of course there is also the big CSN Houston debacle to take into account. If the Houston Rockets - one of the best teams in the NBA - are having a problem catching on in a city where 60% of the population can't watch them on most nights then how do the Astros expect to get any sort of interest outside of die-hard baseball fans?

Year Two in the gimmick league and it's not looking too terribly bright. I'm hoping that the guys on the field surprise everyone and put up a great fight this season. That said, I'm really looking forward to seeing some of these big prospects making their way up to the roster.

Go Astros!

I will probably start caring more when I can actually watch the games again.

Still, go Astros! No more 100+ losses please.

I agree about the excitement of seeing some of the prospects coming up down the road. Help is on the way and hopefully they turn things around sooner than later.

Still undefeated!

Would have liked the option to watch this...but CSN, the Astros & Rockets just can't work things out.

I actually was able to find a very good quality stream for the game last night, so I caught a bit of it. It pisses me off to have to resort to such methods though!

Nice to see them start 2-0 for the first time in a long time(2003). An improved bullpen should translate into more wins this season, but I'm not going to get too excited just yet. It would be pretty sweet to start the season off with a sweep of the Yanks though. ;)

Still not used to the idea of the Disastros not playing the Cardinals/Cubs etc. almost every week. It just isn't the same!

Lucas Harrell is pretty terrible, how did he make the rotation(or the team)?

This is the Astros I remember so well, making even routine plays look impossible. Way to go guys!

Yeah, and it's something that I'll never get used to. The forced move to the AL was a real slap in the face to Houston.

Nice to see them scoring some runs after the first inning finally! 4-0 Disastros so far against Weaver(3 HR's). Feldman looking good as well, just 1 hit through 4 IP.

I'm very pleased that they managed to get one game from the Angels. Not so sure if we can rely on that kind of firepower on a regular basis, tho!

Late game tonight, which is probably best since nobody really needs to watch(or can't) anyways.

At least they brought Springer up and got rid of Harrell, so maybe that is a start in the right direction.

Ah hell, I'm going to watch anyways, who am I kidding? I mean, I will try to watch...
