Is Ryan Shealy going to amount to anything special?

Post#1 » by 2009NBAChamps » Tue Apr 3, 2007 6:03 pm

A lot of hype around the kid when he was in Colorado... he's got his chance in KC this year... so does anyone see him being the next Ryan Howard? Or is his ceiling more along the lines of Richie Sexson?

Thoughts? And predictions/expectations for his production this year?

I'd say Richie Sexson is the more likely comparison. Ryan Howard actually has plate discipline, hits to all fields and can hit both lhp and rhp. Shealy probably translates into 30-40 homer power but will probably be hitting .260-.280.

I dont know about the Sexson comparison, Shealy is a tough out to get and doesnt really K too much.

Shealy really does remind me of a bit younger version of Carlos Delgado though.

Hmm, yea good points. So what kind of numbers do you guys forecast for him this year? And why is no one even talking about him at all? I mean I think he's around 27 but this is only his sophmore campaign... why no buzz?

Every time I see Shealy I think Branyan more than Sexson...

Just very impatient and when I have seen him, he looks like an all-or-nothing type hitter.
