Honestly I don't even care about this pick, I just want to stomp a reeling Lakers team tonight! I mean, what great player are we going to draft 15th?

Word. Their season is all but over in my eyes, I doubt we get the pick. I'm just happy to see this team stacked with HOF players fail so badly.

Much easier to trade up to the 10th-12th spot in the draft with the 15th pick then it is to the 15th pick from the 28th spot. The Cavs have what 4 picks in this draft? Im assuming they try to package all of their later picks to move up again like last year.

Here is the deal with The Lakers' pick in English.

If it lands 1-14, it goes to Phoenix and the swap obligation to Cleveland goes away.

However, if it is #15-30, Cleveland has the option to swap any of their potential three picks (Own, Sacramento (1-13 Protected) or Miami (1-10 Protected).

Obviously, Miami is going to be the least favorable pick so that would be swapped with The Lakers' pick if they make the playoffs thus falling out of the protection.

This would mean Cleveland would get a mid-first round pick (Lakers) and Phoenix gets the shaft and ends up with a late first round pick (Miami).

So, this is really about having a mid-first round pick from The Lakers or a late first round pick from Miami.

Make sense?

Yes, most of us know that.

so we're rooting to draft somewhere 15-20 instead of 25-30

Sad that we are rooting for them to win instead of lose in order to get a better pick. I thought the Cavs would be choosing between the 24 and 29 pick, now it looks like it will only be the 29 pick.

Lakers and Kings have almost the same record, we aren't seeing either of those picks

I wonder what the odds were on LA missing the playoffs at the start of the year

What 1st round pick are the Suns sending to the Lakers so that they (Lakers) won't be in violation of NBA rules trading their consecutive 1st round pick without having one. The Lakers traded their 1st round pick in 2012 to the Cavs. Doesn't the Stepien rule apply to the Laker 2013 pick?

Nope, the rule expires AFTER the previous draft. Theoretically a team could trade their first round pick every season as long as they wait until after the previous draft is over.

It's pretty scary that the Lakers are only 2 games ahead of the Kings now, 3.5 and 5.5 out of the playoffs. I suppose that if the Lakers can get hot, it might be a year where 42 wins gets you in the west. Still they would need to go probably 25-16. They need to turn it on.

Maybe I shouldn't sticky this anymore... Holy crap the Lakers are so terrible this year. It's hard to imagine that they had more talent than their last years roster and yet, they were so much better then.

I wonder if there was any odds in Vegas for betting against the Lakers making the post season.... people would make a fortune haha. I seriously would never have imagined a team with Nash, Gasol, Bryant and Dwight would be so bad, hell, even typing that out seems like a joke. It's gotta be D'Antoni.... He has NO clue how to utilize an actual front court. The guy used Shawn Marion at the 4 and Amare at the pivot during his best years. Amare can't even defend PF's in the league, that should've been good insight to the Lakers FO that the guy's system is tailored around smaller faster front court players, and you don't freakin bench Gasol because of the coach especially if he has NEVER won a ring. Just baffling that they picked him over Phil and they burned that bridge
