Re: All you need is Love!
I feel like adding my 2 cents here as a Wolves fan.
First off, congrats. You guys are probably the title favorites (although I think the West wins the first one as you guys learn to gel together).
Second off, there's a lot of things people misunderstand about Love. He scored 26.1 points per game with a .591 TS%. I hear people saying Love can't create his own shot. Ignore stupid, Love can create his own step-back 3 point shot and is a bruiser in the paint. He does not take mid-range shots often, he either powers into the paint or takes the 3. And, yes, he is a bruiser AND a finesse player. Love took a ridiculous 6.6 3 point attempts per game, but he also took 8.2 FTAs per game as he draws a lot of fouls in the paint. Look at his shot chart:
http://stats.nba.com/playerShotchart.ht ... rID=201567
Love took 524 shots within 8 feet and 633 FTAs. Think about that. Love is not a finesse PF, he's a bruiser PF/C who shoots 3s. He's actually better at defending stronger, slower players (aka Centers) then he is at defending more athletic PFs because they can't back him down. Love/LeBron/Marion smallball is going to be something that works better than you think.
On defense there are a few things to point out. First, his above the rim/help defense is terrible. He'll get a hand in the lanes sometimes, he'll muscle guys out of the paint, but he's not going to block anyone. But he's not completely worthless on "team defense", defensive rebounds make a big difference and he's the best rebounding PF in the game. Love's man-defense is actually near-average when he gives effort. Love's biggest problem is he is a Prima donna. When the Wolves were playing for a playoff spot, Love's defense was ok (not great by any measure, but not horrible). Then, about 6 weeks from the end of the season, Love decided we weren't going anywhere and stopped trying. He whined to the refs instead of running back, didn't give full effort, basically just went for his numbers on offense and screw defending anyone.
You probably won't get that Love. You'll get the "I'm playing for a championship and will actually try on defense" version of Love. But that's clearly his biggest fault, his attitude sucks too often.
Also, Love is the best outlet passing big in the NBA. Noah is the best half-court passing big in the NBA. But you're going to like Love more than you think passing. If your guards leak out he'll hit them. See Corey Brewer's fast break points for details.
IMHO, Love's best position is playing more in the paint and a little less on the perimeter than he did in Minnesota. He can get offensive rebounds as well as anyone and draws fouls/muscles around the other team's PFs in a maddening way. He's a wrecking ball down low when the long/lean PFs guard him while getting positions... and then they try to get physical after he gets the ball and you can't do that. But that's going to be on your coach, if he lets Love play on the 3 point line too often that's going to hurt the team overall.
Lastly, Love doesn't need the ball in his hand a lot to be effective. I really think he's a perfect fit with LeBron offensively. I would love to see them run small-ball pick and roll/pick and pop against the other team's PF/C. Good luck putting a PF/C on LeBron and Love on the perimeter. Plus if you have Love rolling in with LBJ, you're going to get some nice offensive rebounds. With Allen/Irving/Miller on the 3 point line it should be interesting.
Anyway, good luck next year. Hope you get a Hibbert/Asik type center and give everyone else fits for a couple years. We'll take care of Wiggins for ya

I'll be following Love on the Cavs so I might be posting in here some. Just looking forward to people changing their tune on Love once he goes to a real team.

Love is an awesome player, top 7 at worst. People that call him a stat padder just dont have anything substantial to add.

Re: All you need is Love!
Cavs are going to be really fun to watch this year. Looking forward to Cavs vs Wolves (we will get stomped, but whatever), expecially when Love returns to MN in January to some big time boo-birds.
Just so you know, Love really isn't bad on defense. He is not a big time shot blocker, but at PF you really don't need to be. He can box out better than anyone in the NBA and he is a solid 6'10" guy that gets under the hoop. Also a heck of a shooter from anywhere on the floor. I believe he can be a pretty clutch guy as well.
If you haven't seen it, watch the buzzer beater Love had against the Clippers in LA two seasons ago, super clutch.
Have fun.

Yeah, Lebron was once labeled as "not good enough to win a championship" before he did it. It's not Love's fault Minnesota was the worst team in the league before he got there or still had the worst bench in the league when he left. No one produced off that bench. He's certainly going to be surrounded with more talent than Minny ever put around him.
As far as his defense, its a bit over blown. He can get in front of his man and play position defense. He took 18 charges last year. 7th most in the league. He can certainly move his feet when he chooses to. He's not going to be Dikembe Mutombo, but he'll be better than a lot of people think.
Kyrie most of the time when he shoots starts with the ball and then dribbles a while then shoots. -statistical analysis from a 'longtime' Cavs fan (June 2017)

MJ was called a stat padder. LeBron was called a stat padder. Kobe was called a stat padder (one stat, at least). So there's nothing wrong with being called a stat padder. I like stat padders. I want stat padders on my team. Just means you're doing a lot of stuff out there.

Well, today is the day. Somehow, some way, I hope to hear later in the day that the Cavs found a way to get Dieng included. I can dream for a few more hours at least.
I don't know about anyone else, but I will be rooting for Wiggins as well. He seemed to be a nice young guy with a great attitude in summer league. I guess I am hoping he blossoms quickly in Minny just to spite all of the people that have been trying to cut his game down since the rumors started.

What if Im one of those that has been trying to cut his game down since before we even drafted him? I just dont see this potential superstar that everyone else sees, and havent from the start. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I know what we're getting in K Love and for that, Im excited.

Does anyone have an updated Cavs roster/depth chart? Having trouble finding one online with all the recent signings and trades.

Wish Kevin a lot of luck. We got a good return so now I can cheer for you guys.
Almost sure that Love is putting the 0 on his shirt because of the number of times he's made the playoffs. He has that chip on his shoulder.

With all the 3 point specialists on this team, and with one more in the wings possible Ray Allen. Do you see kevin Loves 3 point opportunities diminishing? I see him getting more boards and playing under the basket more. I think Bosh shot a lot of threes because he couldn't bang down low as much like he did in Canada.
