Blatt won't commit to Starting Waiters.

http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/2014/08/nba-news-rumors-cleveland-cavs-david-blatt-dion-waiters/

"Dion is a lot of things to this team. I’ve never seen any particular importance to the emphasis of starting or not, I see an emphasis on playing and helping the team win. That’s not to say he will or won’t start, that’s not the point. I think his and every player’s motto and desire needs to be to help the team win. That’s what’s important."

The article goes on to state that Blatt loves small ball lineups as well. I don't really think we are getting another center for this team if that's the case.

He'd probably get more touches off the bench. Unless he wants to become a jump-shooting scorer, which, he has shown he can do.

I like Dion anchoring the bench as a scoring threat and playmaker but also think he could blend in well with the starters given his range + defense.

I think regardless Blatt will manage the rotations such that Dion gets his time to shine.

I don't understand why people think he should commit to anything regarding starting vs bench etc at this point. THey've never even practiced as a team at this point.

i honestly think Waiters playing the Jamal Crawford,Jason Terry Role for us would be amazing

we have enough scoring in the starting 5... if we can get a lets say 15ppg in 28mpg guy as our sixt man
that would be amazing

Dion has to ask himself.. would you rather Start on a bad Team or be THE Sixt man on a Champ. Caliber Team
if he wants to start he needs to defend and improve his 3pt shot

and as others said, as main sixt man he propably gets more shots

My problem is that defensively he will probably be the best we got at that position. This is basically stating Blatt is wanting Waiters,Miller, and Jones to show him they can start. I still think Waiters will start and if the bench doesn't perform well then he will be asked to go to the bench to give more scoring power.

Defensively he should start. Offensively I'd rather have Miller for deadly spacing

What Blatt Said is true. Waiters needs an attitude adjustment in regards to starting / not starting. He'd also get more opportunity with the ball in hands off the bench. Oh well.

Waiters did say he will do what's best for the team. Of course he wants to start all players should have that confidence in themselves. I still think he will start at the end of the day.

He'll start because LeBron likes him. Blatt isn't going to overrule LeBron on anything.

I seriously doubt that LeBron would try to override Blatt as far as players starting or no.

according to ESPN we have a top 5 player at each 1-4 position.

1. KI #5 PG
2. DW #5 SG
3. LJ #1 SF
4. KL #2 PF

wonder how does this WARP thing treat Andy...

Too early to commit to anything short of that LBJ, Love, and Kyrie will start. They are implementing an entire new offense and defense so there will be a lot of learning to take place. After training camp and some preseason games then thy will know how the depth chart should fall. I think Waiters is the best sg they will have but my focus right now would be LBJ, Love, and Irving. Everyone else is a role player.

The most important thing is who ends the game and I can see many variations on this. I think that the key will be who can defend in Blatts system and how hum well the ball moves here is a scenario. 1st quarter Lebron 12 minutes Kyrie 8 minutes Love 8 minutes Waiters 8 minutes whether starting or off AV 6 min TT 6 min. Miller 4 min. Dellavadora 4 min. Marion 4 min. Second quarter Lebron last 6 Kyrie first 8 Love last 8 TT first 6. Waiters last 8 Dellavadora first 4. Haywood first 4 AV last 6. Miller last 4. Marion first 6

That could repeat in second half with Lebron more minutes in the fourth less in 3 with Kyrie or Love star of that quarter. I think three stars should play 10 minutes in the fourth.

You can get a whole lot more for Waiters than Mazgov. Also I wouldnt want to put that much playing time on Allen or Miller in order for them to make it through the season.
