Jack's value to CLE

Hi Portland fan here. I read that Ferry approached Portland about Jarret Jack. What do you think the Cavs would be willing to give up to get Jarret. I could see Portland doing it for Devin Brown and a 1st rounder, but I'm interested to hear Cavs' fans thoughts on a deal.

The Cavs probably wanna keep all their draft picks, and although a veteran like Devin Brown is what the Blazers could use, he's a bit too important on the Cavs right now. What if we gave you Eric Snow, and promised to take on Darius Miles' soon-to-be-bought out contract? Snow isn't very good, but he plays D, and is a great influence in the locker room.

Jack and McRoberts for Shannon Brown, Dwayne Jones and future 1st (2010)?

My proposal would be Miles and Jack for Newble and Snow. This trade would be consistent with the Blazers plan for max cap space in the '09 off season. Would Gilbert approve this? I have my doubts because Miles' deal doesn't expire until 2010 and it puts the Cavs further over the cap.

I doubt we take Miles back since we are also looking for cap space in the 09 offseason. Basically we would offer a combination of any of the following: S. Brown, Newble, Snow, and C. Simmons. I know thats not attractive, but thats also probably why no deal ever went through. I highly doubt we give up a 1st for Jack because we really need all the young talent we can get.

I think Jack would be best used to get Kidd or Bibby or some other legit piece here with a guy like Damon or Eric going to Portland to clear some cap space in 2009...

I don't see a deal, based on what you guys would be willing to give up. Jack's stats might not be anything special, but he is one of the most well liked players according to his teammates. Think of him as the co-worker who doesn't really stand out on the job, but he would be missed by his colleagues because he is such a personable guy. Therefore, any trade where he leaves would have a big impact on the Blazers chemistry. Something that both management and fans place a big premium on after years of the Jail Blazers.

Yeah, I think Ferry targeted Jack in the first place because he looked at the 12-14 young, talented guys on Portland's roster and thought he could pluck 1 or 2 before the Blazers realized how much talent they have and how there's only 48 minutes in a game. Jack always impressed me, and combined with my belief that talented 3rd year PGs should always be snatched up on the cheap if possible (see Udrich, Beno). That said, Portland's probably better off keeping Jack and letting Blake go.

I can't believe he turned down the offer of Eric Snow...

you'd think teams would be lining up to take on two years of $7-8 million dollars for 1.5 points and 2 assists per 30 minutes of play
