Expect the first wave of signings over this weekend. Theyve already inked 38th round Robbbie Rojas (im assuming slot or under). Also expect Hiura to take BP and do interviews this weekend at Miller Park. Hopefully he signs too with a huge under slot.

Any news on the International front? I don't really know how the signing period works, but are we expected to sign some 16 year old central american stars anytime soon?

The international period starts July 2. Were linked to Larry Ernesto and Carlos Rodriguez. Two 16 yr old OF'ers.

I was just reading up on the whole process. It looks like now would be a good time to pounce seeing as a lot of bigger name teams are banned from signing anyone over 300k. More OF'ers though?

This is cool, an account of how the Brewers stepped up to land their 4th rounder.

Nothing happened for Murphy on Monday and then on Tuesday the Baltimore Orioles called Murphy's adviser and made an offer that would make Murphy the 98th pick of the MLB draft.

"But the money was way too low," Murphy said. "I figured that was it for the draft. The money would just keep getting lower from there. I decided that I better start doing laundry so that I could start packing for Arizona State.

Murphy signed with Arizona State, and he would go there if the draft didn't work out.

But hold the phone -- and the washing machine. Murphy's phone rang again later Tuesday. Murphy's adviser told him that the Milwaukee Brewers were offering more money with the 114th pick than the Orioles did with the 98th pick. And the offer was well within the range of what Murphy and his adviser had decided was acceptable.

The Brewers selected Murphy in the middle of the fourth round of the 40-round MLB draft with the No. 114 pick. His name was called on the MLB Network, and a video of Murphy playing in high school was run on the big screen.

"It's crazy and kind of strange that it worked out like this because each pick has a slot in terms of how much money gets offered and the Orioles were basically underslotting and the Brewers were overslotting," Murphy said. "That (offer from the Brewers) kind of came out of nowhere. I was so excited. I couldn't stop smiling."

Thanks for posting that. Leads me to believe that they know what when they pick these guys in the first 10 rounds or so they are pretty certain they will sign. Same sort of thing happened last year as well.

I really like the approach the entire organization is taking. From the draft, to development, coaches and managers, reclamation projects or under the radar guys, it seems that Attanasio has learned from past mistakes.

Kind of like the Packers and the Buc...wait, scratch that last one.

Biloxi has had 3 straight rain outs and Carolina has been rained out 2 of the last 3 days.

Callis talking about upcoming 2018 class here.
http://m.mlb.com/news/article/236744566/jim-callis-2018-mlb-draft-top-10-projection/
Will be one of the a strongest classes for prep players in like a decade. Guys will go mid rounds next year who would have been late first early 2 grade this year. On top of that Wisconsin has a chance to have its first overall #1 pick in Jarred Kelenic. A HS OF at Waukesha West. I saw him play in person against the neighbors kid and he's a star in the making. On top of that all reports are that he's a super kid with a mega work ethic.

Big news. Basically the team realizes its impossible to play there and theyre moving to San Antonio in 2019. Doesnt guarantee us a spot to be their affiliate though since the contract is only 2017 and 2018 with us.

Cities with open affiliations after 2018 with major league club in parenthesis.

International League

Buffalo (Toronto)
Columbus (Cleveland)
Durham (Tampa)
Louisville (Cincinnati)
Norfolk (Baltimore)
Rochester (Minnesota)
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (New York AL)
Syracuse (Washington)
Toledo (Detroit)

Pacific Coast League

Albuquerque (Colorado)
El Paso (San Diego)
Fresno (Houston)
Las Vegas (New York NL)
Nashville (Oakland)
Omaha (Kansas City)
Reno (Arizona)
Round Rock (Texas)
Salt Lake (Los Angeles AL)
Tacoma (Seattle)

Honestly, if we can't get into Nashville or Omaha (and Omaha seems unlikely with its proximity to Kansas City), I hope we go hard after an International League team though that might be difficult as well with the proximity of those affiliates.

Just don't go to Albuquerque, El Paso, Vegas or Reno. Salt Lake would be okay but still not ideal. Fresno would be better than Salt Lake. Getting back with Nashville would be amazing.

All signs point to us going to Fresno. I think they put forth a vote in Franklin or are next cycle to try and secure some additional funding to add a MiLB park in The Rock complex. That however would be well after 2018 for opening. Im going to guess it'll be Fresno.

Nashville didn't **** them. I know Haudricourt spews it but don't take it as gospel. The Brewers gave the Sounds **** teams and basically told them to deal with it and they had to build us a new stadium despite all the **** teams. The Brewers had several chances to leave and never did. The Brewers could've put better teams out on the field for them and didn't basically telling them hey, come see our **** team because reasons.

It's 100% the Brewers fault for giving Nashville **** teams, thinking they were totally okay with that and then getting caught with their pants around their ankles when they had chances to leave.

We are 494K under slot right now. Hopefully Lemons and Lutz dont eat that up. Lemons has signed but the $ amount isnt known yet.
