LMAO @ Suter getting hyped in the dugout. I missed that on the live broadcast.

Well, yea. I didn't say hit tool. Hiura's gonna be an average 2B at best, Bronson's a legit plus CF with power and speed. They're not close as prospects, and I say that thinking Hiura could be a solid hitter in Milwaukee right now.
Is Lorenzo Cain with a bit less of a hit tool but a bit more power a decent comparison? Maybe Mike Cameron?
Im sure there's a slightly better RH CF comp.
I think Cameron's been his best comp.
Heyward isn't a bad comp either. Somewhere around Cameron/Heyward is where I think his comp is.

Don't get why Suter was taken out when he was pitching with ease, but whatever, big win. Finally converted a close game.

CC said after the game that Suter was due up first the next inning and he didnt want him to go through the lineup a 4th time. Had to get Swarzak and Knebel work as well. IM really glad he didnt go with Barnes.

I've read dudes who scout for a living say he could be a useful September call-up this season. *shrugs*
Also, ****.
Those scouts are insane imo. He'd be lucky to hit .225.

It was great to see Suter hold the Cubs scoreless, but he did benefit from nearly every hard hit ball by the Cubs went right to one of our fielders.
A refreshing change from that road trip where a few losses simply came down to seeing eye grounders and flares missing fielders late in close games.

So here's an argument for Counsell:
Suter's been great so far as a starter, but he becomes more of a risk with each time he goes through the lineup. It seems as though he sails through the order a couple times, and then tends to have that one "blowup" inning late in starts. Fans on here have complained in past games about how long Counsell has left him in.....so damned if you do, damned if you don't. Yes, his pitch count was low, but I think Counsell was just playing the law of averages there. Suter had a bunch of huge double plays in his favor, including that last one in the 7th which changed the tone of that inning in a hurry.
Now here's my argument:
F*ck all that! To say our bullpen has been shakey lately would be a huge understatement, and this includes our closer. Suter was pitching well, had a shutout going, and had a pitch count that could've gotten him through the game. Whether he was saved by a few DP's or not is irrelevant. Whether or not he was "due" for a "blowup" inning doesn't mean it would happen on this night. He kept hitters off-balance for the most part all night, and made the pitches he needed to get himself out of innings.
I just really hate when managers take out their starters for no reason other than to protect them from "getting a loss." It makes no sense to me. Who the f*ck really takes pitchers' W/L records that seriously? It's 2017, do we not all know by now that this is a bullsh*t stat? If your pitcher has given up no runs, has a reasonable pitch-count, and has shown no signs of wearing down, why take him out? If you have a shutdown bullpen, then this makes sense. The Brewers do not.

If he wanted to get some instant offense in the 8th, fine. But needing to get our relievers some work is not an excuse I will accept after that last road trip. Counsell had every opportunity in the world to get ALL of his relievers work on the 2-8 trip. If it's true that Knebel is the type of pitcher who needs consistent innings to stay on point, it's an even more egregious decision to let him go a week without pitching (even Hernan Perez got an inning under his belt).

That would be a better average than Villar, does that mean he'd be useful? Lol

But the dude doesn't walk at all. .225 with Hernan Perez like discipline is like a .250 OBP and at that point, he's a negative player.

6 walks in 23 games is pretty comparable to 27 in 84 lol but I was kidding.

I was 100% on board with taking Suter out there. That's the rational move. If you can't trust Swarzak and Knebel, your season is over anyway.

Yeah, I can see leaving a Kershaw or Scherzer caliber pitcher in for the cg, but a guy that doesn't get a lot of strikeouts and relies on his defense is a gamble.

Re: Series Thread: Cubs @ Brewers
If the Brewers had a lights out bullpen, sure, remove him. But he was clearly locating everything and unless there was some fatigue thing going on it made no sense to take him out and tax a BP that's gonna need every last inning.
