Savannah won game 3 of their series to move on to the next round. Eric Goeddel went 5 scoreless innings. When healthy this year, he's been great. He's a guy to watch out for next year.

St. Lucie got crushed 10-4 and are now down 2 games to 0 in a best of 5 series so things aren't looking very good for them.

Brooklyn lost their game 3 by a score of 1-0 to lose the series. The offense couldn't get anything going.

St. Lucie lost game 3 to lose the series. So, their season is done. Darin Gorski gave up 4 runs in 6 innings which ended up being one of his worst starts of his year, although its not a terrible start. Still, a great year for him and the entire St. Lucie ball club.

Savannah won their 2nd game of the series by the score of 7-3.
Aderlin Rodriguez hit a homer. The 19 year old has tremendous raw power.

"The Mets announced today that Josh Satin is their minor league player of the year.

Satin hit a combined .323 with 12 home runs and 76 RBI with Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Buffalo this season. He was named to the Eastern League All-Star team this summer, and it was the third consecutive season he has reached an All-Star Game in the minor leagues. He has had six at bats since his promotion to the major leagues, and he’s 2 for 6 with two runs scored.

The Mets also announced LHP Darin Gorski is their minor league pitcher of the year.

In his third minor league season, the soon-to-be 24 year old Gorski went 11-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 138 2/3 innings for Single-A St. Lucie this season and started their playoff opener against Bradenton last week. He was named to the Florida State League All-Star team this summer.

The Mets also awarded their top performers at each level the “Sterling Award”, and they are as follows:

RHP Chris Schwinden, Triple-A Buffalo
RHP Jeurys Familia, Double-A Binghamton
RHP Matt Harvey, Single-A St. Lucie
LHP Angel Cuan, Rookie League Savannah
IF Danny Muno, Single-A Brooklyn
C Camden Maron, Rookie League Kingsport
RHP Rafael Montero, Gulf Coast League
OF Maiki De La Cruz, Dominican Summer League I
RHP Persio Reyes, Dominican Summer League II"

Savannah won game 3 by a score of 4-3 to take a 2 games to 1 game series lead. Darell Ceciliani went 3-4. He has been fantastic in the playoffs. And Chase Huchingson got the win with a scoreless inning.

Mets fired minor league pitching coordinator Rick Tomlin. I wonder who will take over?

Savannah lost game 4 by a score of 12-10 in 11 innings. So, game 5 will be the deciding game. Savannah was 1 strike away from winning the title but gave up the lead and ended up losing. 19 year old Aderlin Rodriguez hit a homer and Darell Ceciliani hit a triple.

Savannah lost game 5 by a score of 7-3. So, they lost the series by a score of 3 games to 2. And they were just 1 strike away of winning the series last night and becoming champions. Tough way to end it, but team still had a great year.

Mets pitcher Rafael Montero was number 20 on Baseball America's top 20 prospects from the Gulf Coast League. Montero had a tremendous year and is a guy to keep an eye on for next year.

Here's a top 100 MLB prospects list
Wheeler is 37, Harvey is 40, and Familia is 92.
Nice to see 3 Mets prospects make a top 100 list.

Here's this year Binghamton's mets manager Wally Backman discussing some of the Mets prospects that were at Binghamton AA this year.

Mets will have the 12th pick in the next years draft which means if they sign a type A free agent, they won't lose that pick as it's in the top 15 which are all protected so they would lose their 2nd round pick if they signed a type A free agent.

Also of note- Baseball America came out with their top 20 rankings for the Florida State League and Matt Harvey made number 2 on the list and Wilmer Flores made number 20. Also, they said Cesar Puello just missed the cut. And Zack Wheeler didn't have enough innings there, but they said he would have been in the 3-7 range. And I don't believe Jeurys Familia had enough innings as well.

Toby Hyde from Metsminorleagueblog.com went over some of the Mets catching prospects and what their futures may be. It's a good read.

Here's a good article from Metsminorleagueblog.com going over Baseball America's rankings of Jeurys Familia at 13th overall in AA and why they didn't have Matt Harvey on the top 20 list.

"At Metsmerizedonline, Joe did an interview with Mets first rounder Brandon Nimmo. Matt asked me where I think the Mets will start Nimmo in 2012, and I told him: Savannah. Yes, he has the physical tools to succeed, but it’s his coachability that make the agressive assignment work."

http://www.metsminorleagueblog.com/bran ... -for-2012/

That would be a big jump for Nimmo. He is coming straight out of high school, and barely played high school baseball due to there not being any high school baseball in Colorado. But that would be a big jump for the 18 year old.

Just wanted to recap the Baseball America lists on the top 20 prospects of each league. Here are the Mets who made it.
GCL- Rafeal Montero made number 20 on the list.
NY Penn League- Danny Muno made number 18.
Florida State League- Matt Harvey made number 2 and Wilmer Flores made number 20.
Eastern League- Jeurys Familia made number 13.

All these guys will be guys to watch for next year. And there were a lot of Mets prospects who just missed the cut as well.

“Jeurys Familia toned down his delivery from his phrenetic motion he showed prior to 2011, and that allowed him to throw more quality strikes with one of the Eastern League’s most explosive fastballs. His loose, whippy arm helps him sit at 92-96 mph with hard life down in the zone. … His curveball has improved, and while it has slurvy shape, it has late break at times and gives him another swing-and-miss pitch. His changeup is too firm but is a decent third pitch that plays up thanks to his premium fastball. … People in the league definitely liked Familia better (than Matt Harvey) because of his loose arm and better fastball. But Harvey’s upside remains very high.”

Thats from Baseball America. Very interesting. Both Harvey and Familia have a ton of potential.

Here is the season review of short season catchers from metsminorleagueblog.com.
Lots of guys to watch, however, they're still very young and we have to see how they perform in a full season. My top guy to watch is Cam Maron.
