"The Mets seem to have made a decision that high-end hitters who fit their needs were not good fits, not available or not cost effective in prospects and cash. Or they just might have decided that the lowest-scoring offense in the National League needed multiple bats to help. The Mets badly need to diversify and deepen what has been at Collins’ disposal, and Uribe and Johnson have a chance to do that.
The Mets actually passed on Uribe once earlier this season. "
the official trade is Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson to the Mets on Friday in exchange for minor league pitchers John Gant and Rob Whalen.
I guess we have pitching--so we have to swallow when it comes to trading young prospect arms.
Utility players that come off the books at the end of this season is a good gamble.
Uribe plays 3B and can switch positions if we ever get Wright back.
this year Uribe:.272 with 8HR's and 23 RBI
Johnson: .275 with 9HR's and 34 RBI.
"Following Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Mets ranked dead last in the National League in runs scored (329), batting average (.233), hits (750) and OPS (.654)."

These two should at least stabilize our lineup.
"The best bet is Uribe takes over third base with Daniel Murphy shifting back to second -- and maybe not starting every day -- and Wilmer Flores becoming a bench player or sharing time at short with Ruben Tejada."
