Great debut for Tanaka, TOR has a good lineup

Solarte is impressive

bad note ; Tex injured again
On Curry declining

you can still have good games in the decline, look at kobe's last game in his career

Embarrassing roster, particularly in the infield, given the sheer size of the payroll.

Super impressed with tanaka. 8 K's vs. 0 walks in his first outing. always pitching from ahead and he seems to be able to get all 4 pitches over for strikes. that splitter seems like a great out pitch.

one thing i wasnt impressed with how much contract teams got on his 94 mph fastball. he does locate it well but he didnt get many swings and misses with it

Solarte has been one heck of a find so far.

Currently leading the team in RBI (7), AVG (.458), OBP (.519), SLG (.708) and OPS (1.227) while being tied with Austine Romine (who has only had 1 AB) with the least number of strikeouts (1).

Ichiro making an early statement of "I'm not done yet". Looks like he's playing with a mini chip on his shoulder.

Ellsbury also doing an excellent job at the plate and on the bases.

Everyone else has been pretty much poo.

Mark Teixeira? He's done. At this point I'd rather ARod playing instead of him. Holy cow he looks like toast.

I didn't know J.P Arencibia was Mike Piazza reincarnated... What a surprise, i could have sworn he had a under .200 average!

No way that was a strike on Jeter in the 8th. It's been a crap game either way though. I'm ever so glad I got up at 3am to watch the game live... not.

Anyone watching the game? I'm glad we're up, but without those base running cockups be Tex and Prado, we're up 5-1 with no outs instead of 3-1 with two out.

Good game. Kuroda's best. We'll see where it goes from here. Sale tomorrow is tough.

Yankees got a chance to make the playoffs?

I love watching October ball, but don't watch unless the Mets or Yanks are in.

If Tanaka and Pineda go all out, they will.

Mathematically they do, but in reality not chance, there's at least 7 teams better than them in the AL.

Right now the Yankees have to win all of their remaining games (5 left) AND have both KC and OAK (the two teams that are 5 games ahead of them in the win column and on top of the wild chard chase) basically not win again to have a shot.

All it takes is for KC or OAK to win 1 game each (both have 5 left) and the Yanks are done.

Chances?

KC is has 1 game against Cleveland (who, like the Yanks are only "mathematically in it") and 4 games against the White Sox (who has already packed up and playing their youngsters). Chances of the Royals going 0-5?

OAK has 1 game left against the Angels (who has already wrapped up their division and probably will be resting their starters) and 4 games left against the Rangers (owner of the worst record in the AL). Chances of the A's going 0-5?

Ergo...chances of the Yankees actually making into the playoffs?

About as likely as ARod coming back next season and winning the AL MVP as a member of the Yankees. Yes, just as mathematically, ARod can win the AL MVP next season, the Yanks can make the playoffs this season.

With the loss to the O's, its official....the mediocre Yanks have been mathematically eliminated. Should have just tanked like the Red Sox did and get ready for a top draft pick.

Return to New York Yankees
