Sounds good. The Yanks front office is finally learning that it's foolish to continue overpaying for free agents that underachieve. Rather, raise the eyebrows of these prospects and get them at a lower commodity. Of course, maybe 5-10% will make it to the Major league level. Still much lower than they would giving A-Rod, CC, and Tex a ri-donkulous amount of money.

Yanks also now apparently targeting another Cuban player who so happens also to be named Yoan. This time it's Yoan Lopez, a 6'4" 190lb 21 year old that is reportedly able to hit 100 mph on the radar.

There's now conflicting reports on Max Scherzer. The Yanks may or may not have approached him with a 6 year offer.

Scherzer is going to be 31. After the CC extension, I would have thought Cashman to be foolish to issue a 6 year deal.

There's no one working in the FO he is held accountable to, that is the problem.

Yankees non tendered former top pick Slade Heathcott and the "other pitcher" they got in the Pineda-Montero deal, Jose Campos. Heathcott was at one point the Yankees top OF prospect. Campos was mentioned as a potential hidden gem in the Pineda deal, a young pitcher who can throw in the high 90's. Both have been plagued with injury problems and really have either not developed much (in Heathcotts case) or hasn't had time to develop (Campos has been mostly injured since the trade). This takes them off the 40 man roster and makes them free agents. Yankees are reportedly interested in signing them back to minor league deals.

Thanks for posting this; I missed it. Not all 100 mph throwers pan out in terms of control, but there is ALWAYS a market for these guys in trades, even if it looks like they are not panning out. How many teams kept taking chances on Wohlers even after he looked done? Always the hope their staff turns the guy around.

Very much worth going after for the Yanks if only for system depth.
