The NY Post is reporting that the Yankees do not want to go the $40-50 million estimate for Moncada. They would be possibly in if the market drops to about $20 million lol (pharm just rolled off his chair).

Dodgers appear now to be the favorites.

Of course, all this could just be posturing by the Yanks. A lot of teams that supposedly was interested have said recently they are not interested (including very little noise coming out of Dodger land).

On the positive side, the Yanks have had Yoan Moncada for 2 more workouts (for a total of 3) recently. This time Hank Steinbrenner himself was front and center. That I would imagine is a good sign since Hank is the one that is closer to his dad George in terms of not only looks but also of spending big bucks for top names while Hal is generally considered the cheaper, pure business guy.

I expect Cashman to blow this. I'm not even getting my hopes up.

George King, aka NY Post made that statement based on assumption. He doesn't even use anonymous sources, he just makes this statement which is based on opinion.

If King is reporting they are wary, then it makes me more confident they will get him. He was saying the same stuff on Tanaka last year too.

It's just money for an unquestionable top 10 prospect?

They're the Yankees. Come on and sign him already. He's a stud.

I'm fine passing on Olivera, hes almost 30 and small, Peter Gammons saying other wise can never be trusted but if they blow it on Moncada, they're even bigger idiots then I thought.

Moncada to the Red Sox. We will regret this.

Once again, if you don't have a GM who has been a scout...he's basically signing blank cheques to a contractor who tells you, "You're home is going to look like a mansion..." but really using materials that will fall apart in 10 yrs.

Can't wait till this guy is fired.

Cashman should have been fired yesterday. Though I suspect this team will be hopeless until Hal sells the team.

I have no idea what they are trying to do right now, I just know this team is a joke.

Burn Yankee Stadium to the ground, this is a travesty.

Yanks lose out on another top quality Cuban player.

But hey,at least they signed 30 lesser prospects. Their AA team should be stocked for years to come.

I bet only 1 of those 20 odd players they signed to all that money that put them into tax scenario even sniffs the majors. Meanwhile Moncada will beat all of them out and make the pros in 3 years and tear it up from the jump. The Yanks suck after George died.

But hey, the team that has produced like 5 position players over the past 15 years, what do they need talent for?

At least the Yankees minor league system will produce another 15 middle relievers over the next 10 years, there is that to look forward too.

I really don't like the direction that this team is going.

Moncada is a true superstar talent if he develops properly. Why are we letting the Red Sox grab all the top Cuban prospects (Bogaerts, Castillo, Moncada)? Their farm system and management of it, in terms of productivity, is far beyond ours, which is a shame because they're certainly not smarter or richer than us. At least they shouldn't be...

We really should've signed him, especially considering we won't be able to sign any highly touted international prospects for the next few years.

I'm guessing is this guy here doesn't care about doing whatever it takes to win, just doing whatever it takes to make enough money.

Should have put Hank in charge.

You guys should stop getting your hopes up when it comes Cashman and this organization. I knew he was going to blow this. This is why fans aren't showing up to the stadium anymore. This is why the crowds suck major ass these days. There's no new blood to be excited about. Our management has no idea what they're doing. Thus the overall fan enthusiasm being down.

You make it sound like George R.R. Martin is writing the Yankees' fate. ;)
