Yankees strengthen rotation - sign Scott Baker

Lol...Cashman trying once again to prove that he can work magic without money...sign a washed up Scott Baker to a minor league contract. Basically...the "if you throw enough mud (yes, the 's' word works as well) at the wall something will stick" approach that will likely define his GM tenure when tasked with making deals without money.

This guy was the bee's knees when he was first called up by the Twins and frustrated the Yanks. Since then, he's been an average pitcher...and he'll get rocked in Yankee stadium but this ALSO means Cashman is afraid of what can happen with so many of his pitchers coming back from injury.

I don't love Baker but I don't mind the minor league deal approach for veterans. It's worked well in the past, even with some of the misses. When those barnacle kind of guys play over their heads for a month or two it's one of my favorite parts of the game.
