Yankees (53-41) @ Minnesota Twins (51-44): Road Warriors?

Yanks have a below .500 record on the road so far. Perhaps they can change their fortunes but it will a tough order. The Minnesota Twins are back as a contending team. Phil Hughes among those to be counted.

Pineda turned in, his second consecutive poor performance as the Twins pounced and never let up. Without good location on his slider, Pineda was pretty feeble. This is why I can't quite buy Pedro Martinez's pre-season assessment when he talked all nasty about Tanaka but praised Pineda as a breakout star.

Well, right now Phil Hughes has better numbers than Pineda.

Teixiera had a nice game. 3 hits but Yanks couldn't get anyone on for him to drive them home.

Saturday, CC Sabathia takes the mound. Can he right the ship?

CC gives up five runs. Milone keeping the Yanks in check so far.

Headley's sac fly pulls the Yanks within 1 run. With Ellsbury on second, McCann strikes out and kills the rally in the 8th.

Joe G challenges a double play and gets the call! Beltran remains on first, Headley hits one in the gap, Beltran pushes to third. Yanks have men on the corners, one out in the NINTH!

Eovaldi to pitch tomorrow. Girardi to give Tanaka an extra day off after pushing him through 8 innings in his last start.

Yanks really need another top pitcher and a 2b baseman since they will not give Ref a chance

Until yesterday I used to confuse Brendan Ryan and John Ryan Murphy. LOL. Now I won't. The only reason he wasn't the star of the game is somebody hit 3 little 400 foot+ homers. Worried about Pineda's poor pitching but loved the offense and fielding was good enough.

I like Refsnyder at 2B but Cashman has too much invested in Stephen Drew, so when "Ref" struggled, he was quick to tell Joe G to pull the kid. The young man will be back.

Good start for Nate Eovaldi who went 8 strong, resting the bullpen. Nate threw ONLY 100 pitches, which is a strong sign that he's getting better at throwing pitches that induce ground balls.

Rodriguez has a day off.
