Yanks vs. Angels Game 1

Post#1 » by throwbackewing33 » Tue Aug 21, 2007 1:29 am

Phil Hughes vs. Moseley

I hope Phil gives us a solid 6 innings. The Angels have always been the team we cant beat. I think we can take 2 outa 3 either way.

good first inning for Phil. probably has his nerves under his belt now.

I think this was the first time I really saw his amazing FB command :o

He does have amazing fastball command. He just hasn't shown much of it since he got off the DL.

fastball at 95 and curve is nasty, you don't need to mess around with much more at this point in his career.... But he also has an offspeed pitch...

he threw a few changeups. a good one to figgins. doesn't have much confidence in it right now.

Phil is having problems command his curveball today.

he needs to get confidence in the changeup....cuz if his curveball aint working, he cant rely soley on the fastball in the mlb, he'll learn that lesson real fast

Phil's best pitch in HS was a devastating slider that the Yankees shelved when they drafted him, in favor of the curve. They only let him continue using the slider late last year and it's a nice pitch to have in his back pocket. Flaherty just said on the air that Phil is working on a cutter...
