The outfield will hurt us, no question about that.

Its a simple matter of how much.

BTW, how many Padre fans are there on REALGM?

I thought I was the only one .

Mike Cameroon is awesome. He's just like the country. Brian Giles is awesome. What is there to worry about? So you have no left fielder, big deal. Neither did the White Sox or Cardinals and they won the last two World Series.

Giles isnt all that awesome anymore, especially not on offense. His fielding wasnt great last year either.

His declining power was managable while his OBP was still solid, but even that took a dip last season, along with yet another power dip. Weve got no depth out there, either, and no reliable left fielder.

But ya, Cameron is the ****. But one good guy does not an outfield make.

Giles IsoP and traditional power numbers have dipped to the point where even his regressing on-base skills are no longer that much valuable. Granted there is very little out there to replace him but, still, he

I agree, other than the fact that the Tigers made the WS.

The Pads pen really helped them through some tough offensive stretches last season.

Its amazing to me that this team is content to go so long without a serious power threat, though.

We need a Matt Antonelli Appreciation Thread.

Or at least a series thread or something.

For instance, Jose Cruz Jr. is at the plate with the bases loaded. This would be good information to put in a game thread.

Foul, ball, ball, ball, ball. Barry Zito walks in a run. Now Peavy is at the plate with the bases loaded.

Ooh, and Peavy is putting together a nice at-bat. Runs the count to 2-2 with 3 ball fouled off. Frick, he grounds into a double play.

Oh well.

Peavy looks excellent through 5. 5 IP, 2 hits, 2 BB's, 6 K's, 0 runs allowed. What a stud.

Good to pick up a rout on opening day, particularly against the Giants.

Annoying how the top story in every game will be whether or not Barry hit one out, though.
