Tampa Bay Rays @ Seattle Mariners

Post#1 » by Sweezo » Tue May 13, 2014 2:52 am

This is an awesome game so far. Cano and Hart went back to back...with doubles that hit the yellow on top of the wall and had to be reviewed. But now, it's an offensive explosion. They might chase Ramos in one inning.

This James Jones kid? Fun to watch. He's been exceptionally lucky with his hitting, but he's getting on base and his speed is legit. He just scored on a sac fly that most runners wouldn't have.

They might want to save some runs for the rest of the series

I can't imagine Maddon wants to burn his bullpen in this one. What a fun game so far. Damn near everyone's done something awesome.

Good, let that ump have it Felix. That strike not called ruined him from brilliantly getting out of that inning. And he knew it.

Yet another ump from AAA...what gives? That's the 3rd one of these buffoons we've had to deal with this year.

What's mind-boggling is that he called that strike all game long, even one a tad lower, or a tad more outside. Now his ERA gets tagged with 4 runs that didn't have to be.

Geez...

He just rung Bloomquist up on a horrible 'strike' that was several inches inside.

On the bright side...two HR by Romero and Smoak to (kind of) close things out.

It's a good night. It's just too bad to see Felix's ERA go from 2.42 to 3.03 largely because the ump didn't call that strike when it was clear he was back in rhythm there and poised to get that guy if he remained even/ahead in the count.

Nice to see our team BA rising. That's for sure.

That's awesome, and I don't care if it's too early to think about such things. That's some impressive company.

One move I think might help is Morrison coming back sooner rather than later. Gillespie's not really doing a ton off the bench with Saunders/Jones/Romero/Ackley doing OK in the outfield. Morrison's no savior but I think he might offer a bit more as a part-time player.

He'd have to play a lot better than he has so far to be considered help. He's running a wRC+ of 8. Not 80, eight.

Which is abysmal. However, that's in only 22 at bats. I still think he offers more than Gillespie who really doesn't have a role on this team right now as a right handed outfielder with decent defense. Morrison may end up a complete failure but I still think he might provide some value. Wouldn't hesitate to dump him in a second if something better comes along though.

Well my fellow Mariner fans, are we going to win tonight, win on this glorious day in the PNW?

I think so.

Iwakuma's dealing tonight. Price gave up that cheap run early and that might stick him with a loss.
