Nemanja Bjelica, Hamady N'Diaye or Alexey Shved if any of these guys are still in the draft. They sooooo sound like late 2nd round Mavs picks it is not even funny. Will Cuban give up $3 million to Memphis to get Tibor Pleiss since Donny is in love with this guy?

Tell me what you think, mavs fans

I like Zoubek from Duke at #50, unless players fall. I think he could be a solid 3rd string center that could eventually turn into a solid backup who plays good defense, rebounds and gives it his all.

Grevais Vasquez may be an option if he falls. A PG in a SG's body, but maybe we have enough tweeners.

the FA should be interesting, anyone think there's a chance that all 3 of James, Wade, and Bosh switch teams. Honestly chances are slim we could get any, but I think if we had a chance at any of the three it would be Wade. He is older than the other 3 and while it would be pipe dream like, a deal of Dampier, Butler, Roddy for Wade and James Jones does have upside for both parties.

Kidd
Wade
Marion
Dirk
Haywood

Trade Terry for other pieces and we'd have the 2nd best team in the West imo.

Marc Stein already reported that there is about a 1% chance Wade comes to Dallas because he has a strong dislike for the Mavericks (it might be Dirk, or the organization in general, I forgot) and Dirk feels the same way about Wade.

Wade would be a great fit, but its not happening.

I would rather have a PG in an SG body versus a SG in a PG body like mavs have 2 or 3 of.

What does Dallas have to pry Chris Paul away from NOH ?
Chris Paul would be the true superstar Dallas needs along with Dirk. I would certainly give up Beaubois for Paul.
Maybe a DUST + Beaubois + filler/pick(s) for Paul + filler
I would even absorb Okafor and/or Posey to get Paul.

The only thing is would NOH want Roddy since they have Collison? Maybe flip Roddy to another team for a young piece or high draft pick if possible

There are too many teams that can put a better package together than the Mavs so the answer to your question would be nothing.

I am afraid you are right. The Mavericks continue to mortgage their future and refuse to develop youth other than Barea. This leads to our lack of tradeable assets. Our players were coveted five years ago, not now. Our only hope would be a team with a completely bankrupt ownership group that we could bail out by absorbing contracts.

Lets hope the Mavs trade DIRK to a legitimate title contender so they can begin rebuilding.

Bill Simmons of ESPN said yesterday that a very reliable source told him that Shaq absolutely wants to sign with the Mavericks when he becomes a free-agent.

All Texas players of note seem to be slipping. Udoh might make it to 10, Bradley and James might be in the late 20's and Pittman might not get taken.

I am warming up to this idea signing Shaq to the MLE short term that would allow the Mavs to trade both Damp and Haywood. However the Mavs would need to find another part time center to pick up his slack.

Donnie was on with Uncle Norm. He said that the 19-30 picks are dangerous given the commitment a team must make to real unknowns. He thought that the 31-36 picks had more value and flexibility. Made it sound like mavs would not try to get any late firsts and go to the seconds if right aituation was available. Then again, does anyone believe a GM on draft day until the pick or deal is made? If so, you are as delusional as Tom Hicks or New potential Ranger ownership group.

If the Mavericks retain Dirk I definitely want Shaq on the Mavericks. Shaq would bring some toughness and old man strength to this team. No one F's with Shaq.

I don't see Dirk leaving the Mavericks. And if he leaves, Shaq won't sign with the Mavericks either.

Shaq wants to sign with a contender and he has a lot of respect for Dirk which is why he has tried to force his way to Dallas in the past when he was with the Lakers and Heat.

Shaq better be fine with coming off the bench because if Haywood leaves Dallas because of Shaq, that would not be a good trade off. I would love to bring Shaq off the bench. That would be a nice pickup. He could help lead our scoring off the bench, and open up shots for Terry, b/c whether we like him or not, Terry will be a Maverick come November.

If Shaq is coming in to be Dallas' top center, I would hate the move. Shaq still has a definite role in the NBA, but as a starting center, he's just average at this point.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
