Dallas Bench (Hay, Terry, JJB, and Peja) > Miami Bench (lilo' Mikey, Haslem, Chalmers, and Jones)

In each series against Portland, LA, and OKC, rebounding was a big problem for us. Against Miami it won't be. They don't have a center. So that's big.

Its going to be fun to see what the Heat do against Kidd. Bibby is a non-factor, which means Kidd can roam the floor to double Wade whenever he wants.

Its also going to be fun to watch the Heat struggle against Hay and Ty. In the 2006 series, the Mavs centers were non-existent. I get angry even hearing that wusses name. But Ty and Hay can roam the floor on defense and will totally disrupt Lebron and Wade's game.

Dallas in 6.

You nailed it.

The most important matchups are at Center and Bench.

That will decide the series. If Chandler can pull a Nate Thurmond, we will be in real REAL good shape.
We need about 15 pts and 18-20 rebounds out of our center position, and we might be able to get it. Carlisle needs to exploit that. But Chandlerwood needs protection against drives-- we need better perimeter defense. Carlisle must play Brewer. We will need zone as well.

If we can get 8-10 from Peja, 10-15 from Barea, 15-20 from Terry, this will be a very short series in our favor.

We have the tools to win in 5 games, if Carlisle makes the right rotation moves.

Magic fan here,

I really hope you guys win :) I've been a huge Dirk fan for as long as I've watched him play. And the fact that I live close to Germany and speak the language also helps

If there's one team that deserves a championship, it's you guys. Great franchise, great owner, great players, great fans too ..

Good luck guys, our whole board wll be rooting for you guys ;) (except for some who root for Miami to jinx them )

Jason Terry's tattoo temporary?

Jason Terry's tattoo of the Larry O'Brien Trophy could be temporary.

If his Dallas Mavericks don't beat the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, Terry said he would have the tattoo removed from the inside of his right biceps.

"I definitely know that it will hurt worse if I have to take this thing off than it did putting it on," Terry said Sunday after the Mavericks wrapped up their final practice before boarding their flight to Miami.

If the Mavs fail to win their first NBA championship, Terry said it would mean his tattoo was bad luck.

"I'm very superstitious," he said. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba/ne ... id=6605599

BullsFan4eva wrote:Good luck Dallas, as a Bulls fan I'm still not quite over the frustration of the joke of a series that was the East Conf finals. The bulls did a good job defensively but struggled offensively and need to get better this offseason. Playing 5 on 8 basketball didn't help either. I couldn't stand James in Clevland, and I hate the Heat, their arrogance, and their goal to buy a championship. You guys have had a good playoff run and I hope that continues into the finals. I as I'm sure most of the Bulls nation will be backing you guys this series. I for one do not wan the Cheat to win a title now or ever.

All I can say is as long as you can keep your composure and play your game and not not let the bias from the three blind mice get to you. I think subconsciously that got to the young Bulls. You have a good shot to knock off the heat for a well deserved Championship Dirk certainly deserves a title as does the Mavs team and their fans. Good luck in the finals and I hope you sweep the heat.

LOL
As if the Bulls weren't trying to buy LBJ, Wade and Bosh during FA. The irony.

Anyways, I'm mainly here to to say, let the best team win.

2010-11.....................25.5...............22.0 (w/ Stevenson)

And by no means am I implying that any of their players can be stopped. What I am saying is that Dallas does have the right defenders and we did sweep them in the regular season sandwitching their 12 game win streak. Anyone saying that the Heat are the "heavy favorites" can only say that because they are basing their opinion on reputation and NOT the FACTS.

dirk wasnt that great in the season series as well this year. so i guess we have the right defenders for dirk as well?? miami has shortened their rotation and i think it can force dallas to shorten their rotation and take away that depth advantage dallas has

It will revert back to before if we fail to beat Miami. The fans that want to see Miami fall are going to be frustrated and will revert back to the past. I basically had to just lock and move almost every Dallas thread that would get started on the GB because it would contain nothing but negativity.

Dallas Mavericks Dedicating Playoff Run to Caron Butler

The Mavs say they’re playing for the injured Butler, whom despite being a very long shot, head coach Rick Carlisle still hasn’t completely ruled out of returning this season. From ESPN: “The Dallas Mavericks understood that however hard he worked, forward Caron Butler probably would not be joining this team of ring-less veterans on its pursuit of an NBA title. So they dedicated the journey to him. ‘We all said when the playoffs started we wanted to do it for him,’ guard Jason Terry said. ‘And if you ask him, I’m one of the guys that told him, ‘Hey, we’re doing this for you this time, big boy.’ I told you we’d do it and it’s here now.’ … Mavs coach Rick Carlisle reiterated that Butler is a long shot to play during the Finals, but he refuses to shut the door on a possible return. Butler has yet to practice with the team and Carlisle continues to be vague about a potential timeline even though he said Butler’s recovery is well ahead of schedule. Butler was away from the team Saturday to attend to a family situation. He is expected to fly with the team to Miami on Sunday. ‘He gets closer all the time. Really, I don’t want to close the door on it because with him, he’s never a guy you want to bet against,’ Carlisle said. ‘He’s just one of those special guys. He’s a month-and-a-half, two months ahead of the normal rehab schedule for a normal human being. It just shows the kind of work he’s put into it, the sort of single-minded compulsiveness of his approach and how diligent he’s been. It’s been an inspiration to have him around. I just don’t think it’s the right thing to close the door even though I think it’s unlikely [he'll play].’” http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/20 ... on-butler/

Dirk owns Chris Bosh. I know Miami fans don't know this cuz they're brand new basketball fans, but the Mavs at one point owned a near 20 game win streak on Toronto, with Bosh bending over for Dirk.

And thats when Bosh was a good player, and not just a role player.

1. Did you just imply/say that i'm a Miami fan? Fail. It can't stand them and hope the Mavs will win.
2. Of course Dirk owns Bosh on the offensive side. It's about not forgetting about Boshs scoring.

A guy called Wiggy is not going to make that happen. Call him King Wiggins, A-Wolf or whatever.

Spoelstra: LeBron Will Spend Time Defending Barea

If it is true, I think Barea could play so well, as he did against LAL (Brown, Artest).

I really hope Wade/LBJ to guard Barea than Chalmers/Bibby. ALthough Barea has great first step, unfortunately its predictable. However if bigger player just tries to stay in front of him, its tough to guard. Furthermore JET could play consistently better against normal PG. Its huge.

The best way to stop Barea is to let Barea 1on1 offence more, as Brooks did.
The more Barea plays 1on 1, the more poorly Mavs 2nd unit plays. We saw it many times 3yr.

Barea against OKC( per 36min)
24.6ppg, 9.3/19.6FGA(47.8FG%), 6.4ast, ,1.3TO, -12.5

Looks like his individual stats are irrevant to Mavs team stats, ist it?

Something else I am thinking about-- Wade looks hurt. He was did not look that good during the Chicago series.

This might be a factor...

And also the fact about Dirk's newfound recognition from everybody including lots of people in this board and the analysts/bloggers in the whole internet, when the fact that Dirk has always been this way, maybe a little better than he was before but that's beside the point.
I'm 50-50 on this as I'm very happy that Dirk finally gets the respect that he commands, but part of me doesn't really like it as it feels like as if they're taking Dirk away from us, lol I don't even know if that makes sense.

If by brand new you mean long enough fans to remember Dirk getting owned by Haslem, then yes. Brand new. :)
