After Dallas' blowout and the Lakers heart crushing loss, I can't see Dallas coming in as motivated and focused as LA. I want this win, but I just don't see it.

I don't see motivation is the big factor. But even if we lose, I want to see how we handle the frontline match up, and I want to see if Roddy can exploit their awful PG defense.

An interesting article about how the Lakers have adapted their pick and roll defense to allow the mid-range shot but to use Bynum to prevent penetration to the rim. It was really effective against the Spurs and Heat, but we're a much better (if not the best) midrange shooting team.

To me this game will tell us a lot about if we're a contender or not.

After the Miami loss, Kobe stayed behind and shot jumpers for over an hour, so hes going to come out firing today to show that he takes things personally. Dallas have a slim lead over LA, so I hope Coach RC prepares these guys well.

My question is, if Marion is meant to be guarding Kobe to start with, whos guarding Artest? Hes actually playing well since the All Star break.

Also Bynum and Gasol will look to work inside early to get Dirk in foul trouble. Chandler and Haywood need to have big games.

Brewer and Stevenson must play solid mins guarding Kobe, and Terry needs a big game off the bench

Its going to be a close one, Mavs by 3.

Kidd can guard Artest fine.

Exactly.

Also, I can see Marion guarding Odom while Brewer is guarding Kobe. Maybe even some Kidd and Stevenson (about the only matchup in the league that I would not mind seeing Stevenson play).

Not like it maters anyways and Rick = zone defense.

Honestly, I am more interested if we can get the Chandler from the beginning of the season back. We could use that Chandler to guard Gasol.

Marion on Odom makes me cringe.

Hey, all - Just joined the boards, but have been a LONG time reader -- as well as a LONG time Mavs fan.

Also, the Mavs' game thread is by far the best across the other NBA game threads. Kudos to mavsfoty for continuing his awesome designs.

Oh and Rick needs to tighten up his rotations, damn it.

We should be blowing out this **** defense they're playing.

Every single missed shot was wide ass open.

Sounds like a plan. How about Carlisle post DIRK up instead of having him float on the perimeter.

DIRK missed wide open jumpers, but Roddy is settling for jumpers instead of penetrating

DIRK's fault for missing the jumpers, but RC's fault for not posting up DIRK.

Happy?
