If you're asking me who the Mavs best player is, I'd say Luka. A guy like Delon Wright probably rivals his impact though at this stage in his career. KP may as well if he gets his **** together.

Been truly a blessing watching him his entire career... We may have great talents in the future, but we will never have another Dirk :(

yep, another cool milestone for Dirk and great to see Holger in the crowd for it.

More points than any foreign born guy ever and its almost certain he ends up at least 6th all-time and has a chance to pass everyone but KAJ, Mailman, and whatever Kobe ends up with. Pretty freaking amazing!

Dirk is just the man, have only been following the league and Dallas since 2010, but I have been so lucky to get to watch Dirk's later years. He is truly one of the most unique players in the league, hope he can crack the top 5.

I think he'll come up a little short of Wilt, but he'll finish 6th, and he'll crack 30,000 points and that is an incredible achievement. 30,000 points (maybe 31,000), 10,000 rebounds (maybe 11,000). Top 10 player of all time (well, top 10 big men of all time, anyway). We've been lucky to watch it.

League should put a cash prize of $100 million to first guy that passes Kareem. Every teams owner contributes $3 million to it. Then maybe a player like Dirk might go for it.

if lebron averages 1800 points the next 8 seasons, which is probably a low estimate since he's not scored less than 2k points outside his rookie and lockout year he'd be a little more than 600 points behind him, so it's doable, depending on how long he wants to play

Where Dirk lands on the All-Time Scoring list at the end of his career depends on when he retires:

Age 36: If Dirk averages 20 ppg over 77 games this year, he'll pass Moses for 7th All-Time.

Age 37: If Dirk averages 18 ppg over 74 games next year, he'll pass Shaq for 6th All-Time.

Age 38: If Dirk averages 16 ppg over 71 games at the end of his contract, he'll pass the 30K pt mark.

Age 39: If Dirks averages 14 ppg over 68 games in his 20th season, he'll pass Wilt for 5th All-Time.

Age 40: If Dirk averages 11 ppg over 65 games in his 21st season, he'll pass Jordan for 4th All-Time.

Kareem, Karl Malone, and Kobe are out of reach. Best case scenario for Dirk is 4th All Time. Worst case scenario is 6th. Regardless of how high Dirk climbs, he'll get knocked back down 2-3 spots very quickly. Barring injuries, LeBron and Durant should pass him easily. Carmelo has a very good chance as well.

IDK if you're serious or not, but that would absolutely ruin the achievement of someone passing Kareem. Passing him needs to be in the normal course of playing, w/o other incentives, to have any meaning. After all, Kareem had no incentive to keep scoring more.
When someone says, "to make a long story short", it's usually too late.

Among active players Kobe is the closest to overtaking KAJ (even though he's ~7000 points away).
Would be hilarious to see Kobe's FGA per game go from 23 to 35.
