For those of you who believe NBA players should be able to dominate whenever they step down to the Development League level, Justin Anderson and Salah Mejri passed the eye test.
In their game Saturday for the Texas Legends in Frisco, both of the Mavericks’ rookies started and had big statistical nights. Anderson, the first-round draft pick, had a team-best 27 points. Mejri, the 29-year-old 7-2 center from Tunisia, had 12 rebounds and six blocks.
“It’s a positive to be able to send guys there to get game action,” Carlisle said. “We’re going to do more of it. It’s a positive tool for our franchise and for those guys. It’s a win-win. In this instance they were able to play in the game last night and we got them here (Saturday night).”

Re: Justin Anderson and Salah Mejri impress in D-League debuts
Justin Anderson gets his number but I should say he's quite NBA ready for a couple of reasons:
1. Physical shape - he looks like Lebron on vertical drive (however not as explosive) but he gets blowed passed at least 5 times. He needs to cut down his body fat ratio to be effective. Lateral quickness needs a lot of works. He has to prove his worth defensively to earn playing times under RC.
2. Shot-selection - he's perfect from the field early but he takes contested jumpers repeatedly after that. And the result is far from satisfactory. He's more a threat putting the ball on the floor and drive to the basket. However, he takes 7 jumpers (most are contested from deep.
3. Skills - his shooting mechanic is not quite well for a swingman. And his passing is far from accurate. His court vision is limited. This hurts him from making right decision and making good use of his physical tools to help teammates out. He doesn't make right decisions defensively as well.
He's some promising tools to next level. But his athleticism, skills level and decision making on general needs work.
Mejri is just tall. He's limited offensively. He's not a good decision making as well. He tries to take the ball upfront a few times and it results in some turnovers. It is not a good sign for a grown big man. He's not an adequate rebounder as well. Don't get fooled by 10 rebounds and 6 blocks. He's a man playing against some boys. The OKC team is way too short. But he's got some rebounds stolen by short boys. I am not high on him indeed.
