If only Monk is available but not Ntilikina, I expect us to trade Curry for a quality 2. For example, Wes and Curry for Fournier is not bad at all.

If we're only left with Markkanen, I'd rather sign Lowry and trade down for multiple picks.

Of course, if we land the top pick, then Fultz is the answer unless we trade him for Porzingis.

No way do I want to sign a 31 year old $30+ Million Lowry

He's 31 year's old. So is Chris Paul. If the latter is available, we'll consider him no doubt. If we miss out all PGs in draft, I'd rather have Lowry over Rubio or Teague. That's for sure. Of course, Bledsoe could still be an option.

The slimmest chance of a top 3 pick, but it's been done before. Probably some rigging needs to be involved. Maybe Adam Silver wants Dallas to re-emerge as a top team in the West with our big market. Then Fultz here we come!

Sucks the Knicks pick right in front of us. They will surely leave us with Markkanen left on the board.

I hope not. He's the biggest wild card in the draft and we have a dire need for a PG. It'll likely be us choosing between Ntilikina and Markkanen though. That makes me nervous

No. 9 is still the last spot to get a player, i.e. not Markkanen

Someone has to drop: Monk, Smith, Ntilikina, Isaac

My guess: Isaac

Wonder if Mavs would take Isaac or Markkanen?
Something tells me they'd take Markkanen simply because of the Dirk factor.

I hope they are smarter than that.

Full discloser: I only watched some highlight vids, but I was underwhelmed by Markkanen

I think Carlisle likes Isaac type of players, e.g. Finney-Smith, Aminu, ... 9 foot reach? Yes, please

If the others drop, it becomes a no brainer.

I like our position. Picking at 10 was the nightmare.

I'd hope so too and of the following I'd take in order......Smith, Ntilikina, Monk, Isaac, Collins, Markkanen
Isaac has the tools but I do question his drive. Monk would be great and would provide us some options with Curry allowing us to build with a bit younger core.

I don't want Paul or Lowry ....Neither make us a contender so we would just be wasting time with players that haven't done **** . Meanwhile we are too good to get better

I'll be honest. I'm not high with frank as with some people. Watched only a few games and some clips and nothing really stands out to me. There are players with higher offensive upside (DSJ, Monk and Lauri) and players with higher defensive upside as well (Isaac, Collins). I mean what separates him from Mitchell, who can shoot and just as much potential defensively with that athleticism and wingspan of his.

If we didn't win those last Games that 76ers pick would be ours because we would've traded places with the Kings...

It sounds like Smith and Ntilikina will be who they prefer, but I think smith goes to the Knicks at 8 so Dallas will be choosing between those 2. Who knows what's going on with them if that's the case though. I wouldn't mind just trading back and getting Diallo if that's what we are left to choose from

The Mavs have taken rookies with the 9th overall pick four times in franchise history:

    1981 - Rolando Blackman
    1983 - Dale Ellis
    1996 - Samaki Walker
    1998 - Dirk Nowitzki
Samaki Walker was a bust. But the other 3 went on to become All-Stars later in their careers. Let's hope the Mavs manage to get another good one this year.
