When the Bulls made that god awful trade for them I irrationally got depressed thinking they would end up screwing the Mavs. Somehow they didn't.

Things worked out perfectly. Didn't blow any assets moving up and picked someone with tons of potential who will be really exciting to watch develop. And who adds much needed explosiveness to the backcourt.

Also, these Carlisle quotes are promising. Smith may actually supplant Barea as Carlisle's favorite player.

"I would project him as a starter. This is a historic night for us," Rick Carlisle on drafting @Dennis4Smith to @dallasmavs.

"This is a huge day for us...I loved @Dennis4Smith," Rick Carlisle, Mavs head coach.

Rick Carlisle on @Dennis4Smith "We're thrilled. And when you see this guy get on the court, you'll understand our enthusiasm even more."

yeah this team is vastly improving with a PG that can score and draw attention to free up Noel and Dirk to PnR the opponents with an inside out game.

That feeling of finally potentially having the PG of the future on our roster...first time since we drafted Harris.

Long time coming.

Now trade JJB and or Harris to get us down to having just 3 PG's. If you can find another pick to grab a PF or find someone to play back up to Dirk in free agency that would be good.

He has an acl tear under his belt..that is the only downer about DSJ, but athletic players like Westbrook have done the same.

he was back playing 2 weeks after his surgery so how bad could it be this guy was projected at #2 pick earlier in the season we won this draft now add a PF and lets go develop the team of the future that wins rings over and over again.

Doesn't get easier next season with the Wolves looking incredible after the Butler trade..but this the most exciting moment since 2011.

I am nervous about the injury potential still, but if not for that, we wouldn't have had the chance to draft him.

After listening to his interview with Norm and Followill on the Ticket, I am excited to see what he can do next season.

So happy, exactly who I wanted when we did not win the lottery. Hopefully they give him the keys and let him learn by trial and error.

Couldn't be happier that our guy fell to us.

But does anyone get a slight vibe that RC and DSJ may clash?

Obv this isn't Rondo but DSJ is a strong personality, RC seems demanding his PG's listen.
