Rays sign Longoria to extention

Post#1 » by Optimus_Steel » Tue Nov 27, 2012 1:24 am

Great news for all Rays fans. I was worried about being able to keep Longo long term due to the payroll limitations but he seems committed to the franchise. Awesome! Now lets bring in some bats to give Longo some much needed protection, and I mean legit bats, not patch work guys (Scott/Damon).

Extending longo is huge. Lets hope he can stay healthy.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Got Myers longterm for that big bat. The added protection in the lineup could really help Longo's production. Here's the details of that contract extension..

2013 - $2M
2014 - $7.5M
2015 - $11M
2016 - $12.1M
2017 - $13M
2018 - $13.5M
2019 - $14.5M
2020 - $15M
2021 - $18.5M
2022 - $19.5M
2023 - $13M-$18M team option

Old story here, but spells it out nicely.
