AAA Durham Bulls

Post#1 » by MagicRays » Sat Apr 6, 2013 12:46 pm

Our AAA team looks as close to unbeatable as they come this year. Last night we rocked Norfolk 11-2 for the first game of the season. Strong outings from nearly everyone that stepped on the field. The whole lineup has potential to be seen in a Rays jersey at some point this year:

Archer
Rich Thompson
Brandon Guyer
Wil Myers
Leslie Anderson
Chris Gimenez
Mike Fontenot
Vince Belnome
Tim Beckham
Hak-Ju Lee

It'll be interesting to see the progress of Lee and Beckham.

Lee is ready defensively, but has work to do elsewhere.

Beckham might not be ready for AAA

Oddly enough Lee leads the team with 4 errors and a 1.136 OPS.

Myers jacked his first homer tonight. Hope gets that going more often.

Anderson's showing some nice power. Wonder if we pull him up soon. Could be a DH?

Josh Lueke and Alex Torres looking great on the pitching side.

Terrible break for Lee.

He'll miss the entire year, so here's to his recovery....

Myers isn't ready defensively yet....so his arrival in Tampa may not come until the end of may.

Lueke called up after looking great (based on what I see in his stat line) in Durham. Hope he can continue his success with the Rays!

Myers' offensive numbers are slipping. Hope he can turn that around. Belnome (2B) and Anderson (DH) leading the OPS column.

Torres was called up, Archer is struggling...,.but Odorrizzi might be the most ready at the MLB level.

A few pitchers down there with low ERAs over a respectable IP that we might benefit from calling up...

Kirby Yates (1.89 ERA over 19 IP)
Adam Liberatore (2.12 over 17)
Steve Geltz (2.70 over 23.1)
Alex Colome (2.86 over 50.1)

Colome has some potential for sure, but i believe is still in a developmental stage as far as working on another pitch.

On a side note: we shouldn't expect to see Myers anytime soon.

He is struggling against RH pitching, K's are more than 1:3 AB's, and most of all.... is showing a lot of immaturity in his approach at the plate as far as being aligned with the Rays philosophy.

Alex Colome and Kirby Yates continue to drop their ERA. Geltz also has a great looking stat line.

Vince Belnome (2B) has the best looking stat line on offense. Leads the team (besides Hak-Ju Lee) with a .958 OPS, has the highest AVG, draws walks exceptionally well, and has 0 errors while playing infield in 42 games and 141 at-bats. The only thing that doesn't make this guy look perfect on paper is his 0 stolen bases and *only* 4 homers. The issue is, we already have Zobrist and Roberts at 2B.

Great game on O from Belnome and Myers tonight. I believe that's 2 HR in 3 nights for Wil, and Belnome is just padding that stat line even more.

Kirby Yates blanked another 9th Inning. Looking just as good in the 9th as he was in the 8th when Lueke was closing. Liberatore is now the setup man. Not having as much success in that role as he did pitching 7th innings, but not terrible either.

The Rays need HELP.

Good to see the consistency. I have yet to actually see Belnome play, how is he defensively?

I wish I could say, but I don't catch many games. I can only see what the stats show me.

Same guys highlight today's game.
Belnome went 2-3 today with 1 RBI, 1 walk, 1 SO playing (3B)
Myers went 3-4 as (DH), no SO so that's good.

Jason Bourgeois (CF) is looking good now too. .803 OPS with a 12/14 SB ratio, 2 errors on the season in 39 games. Not much power but he can get on base well and steals well when he does.

Belnome was a December acquisition from San Diego, and it looks like potentially a good one.

He's been productive at the plate at every level.

Almost anything would be better than Ryan Roberts.

Belnome, Myers, Anderson and Duncan all had excellent days at the plate. Belnome got on base every time (3/3 and 2 walks) but made his first error of the season. Myers cracked 2 homers.

I would like to see Belnome at some point.

I keep hearing mixed messages about Myers and his debut with the Rays.
