The Pirates beat the Reds to start the postseason.

Hopefully, the Rays win their game too.

What an electric atmosphere last night in Pittsburgh.

The crowd's constant chanting of Cuetos's name was impressive. Nobody on the Reds would ever admit that it affected him, but it sure looked like it did.

Rays send Cobb out tonight. I sure hope he has excellent command.

Agreed. The game last night was an amazing start to the postseason.

The Rays are looking good thru 5. A couple of scares but Cobb has made pitches when he needed too. The defense has been great too.

Cobb continues to look like the best Rays pitcher as he's Dominating the Indians right now.

The Cardinals dominated the Pirates 9-1. They had an incredible and exciting 3rd where they scored 7.

Burnett looked awful and it seemed as if his nerves got to him.

The home plate umpire in the Dodgers-Braves game was so unbelievably inconsistent it was laughable. How any of the pitchers on either side could pitch in that game amazes me. I would've been frustrated with the moving strike zone.

The Rays were unfortunately dominated by the Red Sox in game 1. On to game 2.

The misplayed fly ball by Myers led to a meltdown by Moore and the Rays defense.

Getting bombed in a game in which the Rays were dysfunctional as a whole, doesn't bother me as much as it is for only one game.

A more painful loss yesterday would have been had the Rays blown a 7-0 lead, and giving up the final 5 runs in the last two innings.

The Rays will shake this off.

If the first two games against Boston were intended to get the Red Sox overconfident, then this was "job well done".

Price and Moore paid dearly for every mistake pitch, the defense has been similar to Class A, lower level.

Offensively, the Rays have been unable to capitalize on their limited amount of opportunities.

Monday is next ..... let's hope the Rays have been sandbagging their performance so far

I think the Rays should be able to swing the momentum back to themselves. Going back to the Trop should turn things around for them.

I'm hoping and expecting 2 wins at home. I think we should be able to force a game 5.

Rays trailed 3-0 in the ugly way, then leave the bases loaded forcing buchholz to throw 35 pitches in the fourth, but getting zero runs.

Then Longo drills a 3-run dinger with two outs in the fifth.

That was a great game!

The Red Sox got a run off of a bad throw from Zobrist. They also had 2 runs that shouldn't have come when Evan tagged Jacoby at third and the umps missed the call. But the Rays got through the terrible calls and mistakes and still won.

The big question tonight is what does Hellickson bring to the table?

Given his track record for most of the year, the Rays will need to score A LOT of runs.

Great season for the Rays. Unfortunately it has come to an end.

Excited to see what the future holds for the Rays. We are still very young and could possibly get younger if we trade Price for a couple of good young players.

I have been saying for a long time now, but once again its the lack of bats that hurts this team. The Rays just don't have enough consistent bats to battle against teams like Boston, LA, and Detroit. Hope the team opens up the wallet and adds some bats but I am not holding my breath for it. Getting guys on the cheap and hoping they break out is not the way to go. We need legit, bonafide hitters.

Rodney also scares the crap out of me, he is like a Russian Roulette, like playing with fire. Hope they can fix the bullpen and get some more bats for next year.

It was a very good year.

The Rays still have a bright future and should be competitive, however, the minor league system is not as deep as it was a couple of years ago.

The Rays would have won 100 games this year had they had a good bullpen. The bullpen LOST more than 15 games this year that the Rays were tied or held the lead from the 7th inning or later.

These weren't just blown saves, but these were games that the Rays actually lost.

The offensive issues are still there with the bats, but the biggest difference with this Rays team compared to years past, is that the Rays lost their effectiveness on the base paths to get extra bases and manufacture runs.

Your right, the bullpen blew a ton of games thru out the year that they had leads in, and it wasn't just Rodney. The whole bullpen was extremely shaky, which is odd that Maddon relied on them soo much. A better bullpen would have avoided playing in the extra game against Tex and probably the wild card game but the offense would still be terrible and not good enough to reach the ALCS, let alone the World Series.
