He had a decent spring but not amazing, they are just being cautious.

Kinsler and Phillips are signed. So if Johnson does well this year, its imperative AA offers him a extension because there will be no decent 2B FAs in the coming years (Cano is guaranteed to get a massive extension from Yanks as well).

If Johnson does well this year, there's no way the Jays are going to spend the money to keep him. It will be too costly. If they want to keep him and not take a stepback at 2B in 2013, they should extend him now.

darvish is like a highly touted prospect you dont rusht things, you let him ease into the MLB, regardless of the amount of money he is getting paid. he'll be number 1 someday. cj wilson left, whose to say that lewis will leave for more money? or maybe feliz? darvish would suit that role in 1-2 years time.

Verlander going for complete game shutout against the Rays right now in the 9th. Just gave up his 2nd hit. This guy may be too good.

edit: It appears I may have jinxed him. :D

edit edit: I did I did. :D

Ouch. They just took Verlander out of the game.

I'd still leave him in at 104 pitches/throwing 99mph. He's struck out Joyce twice already today.

Not many managers would leave a starter in in the 9th after he loaded the bases.

Josh Johnson got beat up by the Phillies, of all teams. 2 bad starts for him now, not a good sign for the Marlins' playoffs hopes. Liking the Nationals playoffs hopes a bit more.

Pretty awesome story on Jeff Francoeur. Love when guys don't take the game too serious and have some fun with fans.

Boston Red Sox center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury left Friday's game holding his right arm to his body after he was injured sliding into second base in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Obviously a pretty big deal for the redsox if he's hurt for an extended period of time.

That injury would be huge for the Sox, Jacoby is a massive pain in the ass. It feels wrong to cheer for an injury, but it's the Sox, so I'm perfectly OK with it. I hope Ellsbury misses the rest of the season.

Big bounce back games for Beckett and Kuroda today, unfortunately. I was hoping their first starts would be a sign of things to come.

I'm still completely unimpressed with the Angels. Still way too early to say they're in serious trouble, but losing 4 of 6 to the Royals and Twins is not a good sign. Their offence and bullpen look like they could have issues, and Ervin Santana has looked pretty bad in his first two starts. I would think Trout is going to be called up pretty soon, what with VW having a whopping .438 OPS to start the year.

First ever 2-5-6-3 Triple play pulled off in the ninth inning by the Dodgers. Oh, lets ignore the fact that the homeplate ump called the play dead (twice) then decided to let them play-on.
