Source: Mets and Blue Jays on the verge of deal that would send R.A. Dickey to Toronto, Travis D'Arnaud to Mets. Teams looking at medicals.

and...

Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan

There would be more players involved in the trade than Dickey and D'Arnaud. They are the principals.

Officially apprehensive, was really hoping it'd be JPA.

I said it before but if its Dickey for TDA straightup its a coin toss deal, you're not getting great value but you're not getting ripped of either.

I don't understand why we don't go for someone like Marcum or if we're trading TDA, get someone younger. It's not like we really need him that badly either, we just need a decent end of rotation guy,

What would you consider good supporting players in return?

I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

To save TDA, I'd go JPA (and I love JPA), Gose, and Smoral. Enough? Should be plenty, really.

I think we'll see Parnell coming our way and perhaps Thole to catch Dickey? I dunno?! I don't like the idea of trading multiple prospects for other "pieces" The Mets roster sucks, and i highly doubt they're trading any good young talent back to us..

d'Arnaud = maybe a 1 fWAR improvement over JPA in 2013.

Dickey represents close to a 2 fWAR improvement over Happ (Assuming Happ is worth 2 fWAR which isn't crazy)

I think I'd rather trade JPA + Bonifacio for a 2B who can increase our fWAR output but at least 1, then it equivalent to the Dickey trade but costs us less in terms of prospects.

Dickey wants an extension. I'm sure window to negotiate his extension would be part of the deal. Of that, I'm reasonably certain.

If we give up TDA I hope we throw in Norris and get Harvey back as well.

Nothing that makes sense. It's likely gonna be Parnell or some other fillers. This trade will be a disaster nonetheless.

They don't have very much I like , maybe Parnell and/or Harvey.

edit: If they have a loogy to throw in in case Oliver doesn't come back, would be an added bonus.

I really hope Travis isn't going the other way on this deal.

As good as JPA's been with the media and whatnot, I would prefer to keep d'arnaud. My hope was that he'd be backing-up Buck this coming season (Buck being a natural fit as the starter with his experience with the rotation), but looks like that's not gonna be the case. :S

Ho well, you have to give to get I guess...

About what I was thinking. I'd rather include Norris in a package than a guy like Smoral... And then I also thought that it's too bad Norris drove his value down this year with a bit of a rough debut...

Anything confirmed by a legitimate source yet? I see lots of tweets that, Dickey for TDA is very close...

Harvey is not gonna be part of this trade. Lay down the pipe.

So even if we overpay with d'Arnaud and throw in supporting prospects like Norris+ we won't get Harvey? Lay down the pipe.
