Proline / General Sports Betting Thread

Post#1 » by s e n s i » Tue Jun 11, 2013 10:36 pm

is anyone here a frequent player?

thought this thread would be useful for sharing picks. i've come one game away from a perfect card twice. got 8/10, 9/11 several times, but never perfect. it's a total crapshoot but if anyone has any vegas scoops they think would be useful, here's the place to share. if not, then just let this thread dissipate into digital abyss.

card 74 - june 11, 2013 (bodog lines and matchups: http://sports.bodog.eu/sports-betting/m ... -lines.jsp)

my picks are bolded

event# visitor - home

1. LAA - BAL
2. SF - PIT
3. CIN - CHIC
4. CLE - TEX
5. DET - KC
6. TOR - CWS
7. WAS - COL
8. NYY - OAK
9. ARZ - LAD
10. ATL - SD

feel free to share your picks for the night even if you don't play proline. if there's enough interest then i wouldn't mind posting every card.

I play Point Spread and Proline but rarely do I play Pools

However I can give you my picks during the day if you like however I usually do more Spread plays rather than moneyline.

Tonight I had
SF Pits over 7.5
Mil Mia over 7.5
Bos TB over 8.0
STL > NYM
NYY > Oak

A little OT: but if you guys live near Quebec, you need to check out https://miseojeu.lotoquebec.com/en/home

I mean, so much more selection than Proline and with better odds.

The only thing proline has that they don't at this point are the pools, which is fine for me right now because i usually only play NFL pools on proline.

Place your bets online.

More selection, easier process, and significantly better odds.

I bet online Tennis, UFC and NBA only since proline does not offer them.
The only problem with online is it takes 1-2 weeks to withdraw the winnings from the Sportsbook to my Bank account which is why I'd rather hit on Pro-Line

Yeah, i am glad i live near Quebec for that reason. it's the same deal as proline -
Walk into the store hand them the slip and potentially cash in the next day.

(You can only use the online feature if you're a Quebec resident)

I like the fact that for the Quebec one the minimum is only 2 instead or Pro-Line's 3, seems much more profitable. OLG has horrible odds and is pretty much a scam with their minimum 3, but cashing the next day if I get lucky is still better than waiting for an online sportsbook.

I've started betting on Baseball moneylines this year, i picked Betfair because i also want the option of betting on politics later on. I use the exchange system, no juice but 5% commission on winnings. I keep my bets small(2% of "bankroll") and only bet on 1-2 games a day and only if i see an edge. I've been almost exactly breaking even so far in a sample size of 60 which is worthless. Maybe i'll go on a hot run but breaking even is fine, something like 95% of people who bet on sports end up losing in the long run.

I like to keep things simple, i don't bother with researching umpires and local weather conditions. An obvious strategy that i use a lot is to fade overrated starters and back underrated ones like today i'm taking the Dodgers against Pat Corbin.

Going to be a good game tonight, however I would lay-off as some people might get suspended prior to the game based on last night's brawl. (One of whom might be Puig, he was ejected last night)

Point Spread is easy

Say you have

V = Road Team H = Home team

Indianapolis Colts V / NY Giants -7.5

This means that if you choose H (Home Team) , New York has to win by 7.5 or more for you to win that game
If you chose V(Colts) that means Indianapolis can lose by up to 7 (which in betting terms is +7), for you to still win that game.

So for example I chose:
Indianapolis V + 7.5
and the final score was NYG 24 - IND 17, I would win that game.

If I picked NYG H - 7.5 I would have lost that game as -7.5 means the Gians need to win by 7.5 (or 8 rounded up) or more and they only won by 7.

Now for you to win point spread you need to pick 2 or more of these games and the more games you choose the higher the amount of money you win.

So say you choose 6 games, the payout for calling all 6 right is 35x and you put $25 on it, you would win $700

1* 1.25 x Wager
2/2 2 x Wager
3/3 5 x Wager
4/4 10 x Wager
5/5 20 x Wager
6/6 35 x Wager
7/7 75 x Wager
8/8 150 x Wager
9/9 300 x Wager
10/10 400 x Wager
9/10 20 x Wager
11/11 600 x Wager
10/11 30 x Wager
12/12 1000 x Wager
11/12 50 x Wager
10/12 10 x Wager

Exactly. Once you bet online or hit up a sportsbook at a casino, you will never touch Proline again

At the risk of sounding stupid, how do you bet online? I've only ever used proline an wouldn't mind a change..

Online sportsbooks, there are hundreds of them, just make you sure you pick a reputable one like Pinnacle, Bodog, Bet365 etc etc.
