Hearing Tim Raines speak on the Around the Nest podcast, he spoke about the basestealers on the Lugnuts. He said that Locastro had the best instincts of the bunch. Alford had good timing and I think he said that DJ Davis was getting better at recognition.

DJ Davis' stats certainly support that. I mean, they aren't great, but after a 2014 in which it wasn't entirely clear that the white orb was his chosen point of contact, they're revelatory.

Edit: by that, I mean his strikeout numbers. Overalls are pretty impressive.

Locastro is 63/74 in career steal attempts (85% success rate). Combine that with his ability to get plunked every other AB, you've gotta admit it's a good combination of skills.

HR tonight. 2-4 night for Davis. Alford is 2-4 and so is Urena.

Any word on what this means for Smoral? Is he going from extended to Dunedin or is this a one-off thing? That Dunedin rotation could get very interesting in a hurry.

Somewhat surprised Alford hasn't been promoted yet. Maybe they're holding him back until he flashes a bit more power, or maybe getting him comfortable stealing bases. The 23% K rate is a tad higher than you'd like to see for someone with his skill set, but shouldn't be enough to hold him back from Dunedin.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

He played winter ball in Australia, and I don't think they want to push him too hard, too fast. This is his first significant season of minor league baseball.

DJ Davis now has a 15 game hitting streak. He has walked 5 times and only struck out 6 times. Definitely encouraging.

Most encouraging. He and Alford are a potentially exciting outfield pairing who could cover a great deal of ground defensively.

You always gotta be a bit skeptical of players repeating levels, i'm not at all buying into Davis' progression.

How old is Davis relative to the level?

He's 1.4 years younger than the weighted average of all batters in the league. He now has 750 plate appearances in the MWL. He pretty much skipped the NWL though.

quite old actually, looking at average age of prospect is deceiving, you gotta look at the ages of real prospects and not just filler minor leaguers. Davis is 1 month shy of turning 22, that's probably atleast a year older than a serious prospect should be at that level. 20 is a good age for the MWL, that's guys like Jansen and Tellez, Alford is 20 too but he's about to turn 21. 19 is young for that level, Urena is the only guy we have at that age and he's a young 19 too.

So yeah be skeptical of Davis, not only is he old for that level, he's also repeating it.
